Oh my goodness, I got tickled at how excited you are Dan that the Christmas tree is up already. :) I had a flocked white one that I absolutely loved BUT it turned out when I bought it online, they did not say that the white flocking was actually a glitter type stuff. We have two small dogs inside and I did not want them consuming all that glitter when it got on their paws. But it was a gorgeous tree. I also got tickled when all the sudden Bri was in the chicken coop. As you were trying to figure out what to do, I instantly thought "I bet Bri can get in there to put the baby chicks up in the house." Then there she was. 😁😁😁

Oh my goodness, chickens are so much work! You are blessed to have experienced family members like Bri, Kim and Steph to give info and support. Oh, and also Pawpaw ☺️. I have wild chickens all around my yard and sometimes they lay eggs in the potted plants. I was thinking maybe I could get a henhouse for them to lay in. The only predators here would be the brown tree, snake and wild pigs although I don’t think the pigs would mess with them. The snakes would eat their eggs. I’m on Guam by the way. GM y'all. Dan you need to set their water up on a block to help keep it cleaner. And they will go inside the coop at night on their own and they will get use to it after after a few days. The roosters name Lou is Foghorn leghorn I think .

Here's a suggestion for your grass problem. You're always dumping the water out of your watering troughs. So why don't you get a rain barrel with two spigots on it. One in the middle one on the bottom. That way you can plant your grass for your chickens and use the water to spray it. And that way your chickens can have their grass you're not wasting all that tough water just thrown in on the ground so to dry up. Also if the rain barrel is not to your liking then you can buy a sump pump and stick it in the watering troughs and spray the water that way on your grass. And one more thing you can buy a leaf blower that has a vacuum attachment on it I have one saved a lot didn't have to do the barbecue thing again the neighborhood dogs were sad when I got one. But you can dump it in paper yard bags that they suggest you do anyway and you can put them on your burn pile Just a thought or three🤔🤣 PS Don't tell Lester but yours and Lu's video are becoming my favorite ones to watch. Especially when you two do projects together. 😂

Hi Dan, I also have a lot to do with yard work. Today is last day of year in the 70’s. We have been unseasonably warm and super dry here in west central Wisconsin. Leaves are peaking and falling fast. All summer outdoor equipment needs to be set up for winter storage. We will probably have snow in a month so roses need to be trimmed back and covered, lawnmower drained of gas, battery chargers and batteries for trimmers, blowers, edger, etc need to come from garage (not heated) to house for winter. A lot to do but energy is low. I also need to replace all my dusk to dawn lightbulbs in outside light fixtures.

I'm not telling you to do anything against the law Dan. BUUUT. Here in Florida we have burn bans too. And my lazy landlord decided she wasn't going to pay somebody to pick up the leaves out of the backyard side yard in the front yard in front of my apartment anymore. She told me if I wanted them to be removed I would have to start raking them up and it was a big backyard, a big side yard and a big front yard. And as you know in Florida as well in Texas we have "Danger Noodles" who just love hiding in the leaf litter. So I called the fire department and ask them can I barbecue while the burn bans on and they said that we can on a concrete pad that is well clear of combustible material and not a chance of leaves blowing up in it. I told him it is a portable charcoal grill that you sit on top of the table. They said that was fine I asked them. Could I use wood. They said it was fine as long as somebody is watching it and there's a fire extinguisher next to the grill. So I went to the store and bought the cheapest hamburger I can find the big tube. I made tiny little hamburgers. I put a big pile of leaves in my charcoal grill. Put soaked hickory planks on the shelf above it. And on the top shelf I put like 15 of those little hamburgers to give it a "scent." And at around 4:00 5:00 in the evening I would go out burn a pile of leaves put my hamburgers on to cook. The neighborhood dogs got hamburgers for their dinner. Win win And in about 2 weeks between that and the bi-weekly leaf pickup from the city. I cleared a good space around my apartment. 😂

Hi Dan and Lou, my husband uses the riding lawnmower to make piles of leaves, then he gets on the riding lawn sweeper and sucks the leaves up into the bag, then go into the woods(we live in a national forest in Pa) and dumps them

Usually they will go in the housing at dusk, when it starts getting dark they go to the house for protection, then you just go close the door! It will probably take then a few nights to figure it out! Yall sounded amazing at prom! Great voices! ❤

Put leaves in a corner, keep the leaves wet, keep turning them, about a year it'll decompose and you'll have Leaf mold it's really good for fertilization and conditioning of soil.

Hi Dan and Lou. Chickens will go up in house when it gets dark all on there own. Don't forget to put a heating light in there. I been raising chickens for 3 yrs now. Great way to save on money on eggs. I'm in City Limits so I can't have roosters. Older chickens will pecks younger chickens. We had one that killed all our younger chicks. Even killed 2 ducks. I so love Lou decorating. Cannot say that enough. Enjoy your evening.
