This reminds me a whole lot of my team, Feyenoord, in 2016/17. We're also part of a Big 3 in our country but we hadn't won the league in 18 years. That season everything just seemed to come together, the manager, the players, the signings and just the general feeling around the club. We were quite far ahead at some point, though at the end of the season we did almost mess it up with some nervy performances, but we held on and won the title on the last day of the season. I hope Sporting can make it too!

But still manage to win 3 cups, sporting is still one of the top teams but if they win this year they can start a cicle of being the top club in Portugal (champions money coming in and selling the wonderkids we have will give us money to build a better squad, this year we spent around 13 million and we are dominating. Imagine being able to spend around 30M, we could do way better)

As a Porto fan, hats off to Sporting. Everyone mocked the club when they paid 10M for an inexperienced manager, but the results speak for themselves. Sporting's defense is incredible, and to think Amorim is most likely going to win the title when Benfica spent almost 100M in transfers is surreal.

Even more than he was in the way out when returned from loan, he was already great in Braga but Sporting management before was always doing shit deals with amazing academy talents... Ricardo Esgaio and Wilson Eduardo for me are the top 2 names that Sporting sent to Braga in lousy deals... Just because of not wanting a Portuguese winger so it seemed :'D Varandas despite all the controversy brought stability to the club, in my opinion if Sporting had fans in the stadium, probably we wouldn't have done so well....

Other key factors include Palhinha completely rulling the midfield and Pedro Porro who is doing amazing and is by far right now the best wing back in the league. Rubén Amorim is also really good at motivating players and keeping the locker room united and happy while bringing results pushing really hard for the "Jogo-a-jogo" or "game-to-game" philosophy as he still hasn't admitted that the goal is the title.

What you've touched on that I really enjoyed was the stability. Sporting hasn't had any sort of stability, from an organizational standpoint, for years. We're constantly switching presidents because of the various 'factions' within the fanbase. This has led to multiple half-assed snap decisions being made over the years which led to the boiling point that was the attack on the Alcochete academy. This is the first time in over 15 years that the club has had any sort of direction that seems like it might stick. Even if we essentially become a farm club that focuses on producing and developing talents to sell on to larger markets, it's better than breaking the bank chasing washed-up players in their 30s as we were doing for the last few years.

Amazing video. Ive subbed. Im a sporting fan the only thing i was dissapointed by in this video was you not mentioning Palhinha. Since the beginning of these season 2 MEN...Coates and Palhinha have been the keys. Without them we would crumble to the core.

Well done! Here's hoping Ruben doesn't run into the Lage situation next year. Interestingly enough, last time Sporting won the Liga they fired their manager in the second season. Throw in Braga continuing to improve and this Liga has gotten more exciting. Keep up the amazing videos!

Great video and good info Sporting-Austria’s favorite Portuguese team (as they frequently lose to Austrian teams). Just a correction: the defeat to LASK was at home and I am happy to be a fan of a team that could beat Sporting this season. 😊

As much of an embarrassment as it was losing to LASK, it was a blessing in disguise. No European games meant total focus in our league campaign. With a young squad as ours I doubt we would have the same results having to play Europa in the middle of the week. So thanks LASK and good luck achieving that second place, Rapid is shit.

Joao Vieira Pinto doesn't get enough praise. He was small but lethal in the air, scored many headers and helped players around him look better. Stats can be overrated, he carried a mediocre Benfica team from 90s. Imagine how many goals he would have if he started playing in the past 5-10 years ago in Benfica's team.
