In reality, US economy pivot deeply , structurally & shaped by China's cheap cost of goods. The opportunity cost justify for the growth in US . A tremendous contributions on US economic. Eg. If US is to trade only with EU only , i think the growth would be far worst then it had now. Having said that. US may says, well ! I could also seek cheaper cost from else where. Yes, it is correct but cheaper cost must come with greater elasticity meaning rooms for growth, capacity for innovations, talents, supporting machanism like supply chains, resources, etc. All these know as determinant factors on productions. Eg. The normal working hours is 8 hours, but the Chinese could work for 12 hours( as now) to take the pain for others good life. I am not surprise they could work for 16 hours or 20 hours for more pain to ensure others having a good growth as the trades war intensified. That is China's sacrification for other to growth & US has grown under such foundations. Do you have such foundation ?. Well ! As we knows, in politic, patriotism, Nationalism, primacy, exceptionallism, be great again, build back better, demagogue , hocus-pocus, etc, took a center stage for supporters rallying. Thats common in Democracy. Thats also common in any competition , contests. These are political rituals, jargons & habitually performed for political supremacy. In shot, at last, US will still need China for its growth. Until then lets the political gimmicks & tussles to bear its ugliness. From which , a realisation will only justify to consider trading with China as a crucial tools for progressing instead of having limited & constraints or optimun progress of near shoring, friends shoring, decoupling, sanctions, short-sightedness. What are the opportunity cost in relative to political games. The cost is pains & do you realise that these cost are been compensated. Meantime, China will have to savour all these political jargon & assume the role of bogeyman, fall guy & at the same time experiencing an Economic Pause for an unknown durations. However, Economic Pause could also means good to China. Without it, the level of problems could have grown much greater then now. So far from what i observe, the two steadfast trading nations turned to battering each others . I wanted to laugh but i could not. Friend turn to foe for no apparent reasons. The rest of the world are watching as we know the world is a stage & human are the actors. The actors are US & China.
