People need to remember the malice from the original Marauders. The same one who took possession of Polaris body for a long time. The neck choker is is the same person.

Malice was introduced during the Mutant Massacre. She first possessed Dazzler then Polaris for a time. Storm beat Malice's control over her during this time

I agree, what the issue is showing is Malice's back story. I am equally surprised that Rob didn't research the claim of a new character. He is usually teaching me stuff I didn't know. But, good review otherwise.

Great Video Rob, explained a lot. I do remember Malice back from the Claremont run tho (around issue #214), she took over Polaris's body and many others if I remember correctly... The necklace was the give away that reminded me.

Malice is an old school character they were just giving backstory to. If I recall proper, she worked for Mr. Sinister during inferno, and was a part of the marauders.

She also took over Polarisis's body for a good while. I think also Rouge, thus why she said they where old friends. Cant believe Rob forgot about an Old School Mutant like this. Rob isnt going to be able to live this one down :P (just some playful ribbing Rob).

The question for us think about with Malice: will she be able to inhabit cybernetic entities? If so, will she be used to gain control of Nimrod? Or maybe just members of Orcus. I can see some big time shenanigans coming up because of her.

I think she's there mostly as a plot device. The author most likely has a specific plan for her but that's about it, beyond that I don't think anyone will use her in any particular way.

If not then if the whole Krakoa thing is coming to a head then I'm really not sure what they'll use her for after that. Time will tell I suppose.

Malice seems like there's a lot of character development that can be done there. It's just about what they have planned and if they can implement her.

Malice was long considered the most dangerous marauder, and it's good that they are not only giving her a back story that reflects the personality of all the beings she inhabits has displayed, but also developing a much under used character who could be a boon or bane in the X-universe for years to come.

I think Malice alredy existed on Marvel Comics, if I recall correctly she was part of the Mister Sinister's Marauders team of mutants, but we never knew her actual back story. It is nice that all this new lines of X post House/Powers are both introducing new mutants and telling the story of mutants that didn't get much spot light on the past.

I’m ok with this story line with malice and betsy. It’s very interesting for the exploration of mutant powers a ssn a genre of psychics and telepaths and now astral projections and spirits. The theme of the x men and what they’ve been exploring in the house and power to now see like we just got done with chapter 1 of the big reveal of the next battle of mutants vs man and machine. Feel like the war is going to be wild. I wonder if we’ve met all the players yet

I feel like on a really meta level Malice is our society as a whole. There are people who want to just refuse to let the past go and say burn it all down and then there are people that want to work together for a better future...if nothing else i want to see malice redeemed, just as Id love to see us as a country become US again...not picking fights at every single opportunity...

There's Karma, the closest parallel to her powers or mastermind.... these are hyper specilized TPs that approach or exceed Xavier in one or 2 skills-powers Not sure if I'd like to see more of Malice but she'd work great for xforce, covert, deep cover, healing assistant & cross training/power development

Soooooooo........what makes Malice more OP than someone like Deadman from DC? Deadman had invisibility, flight and intangibility. He can instantly and completely possess any sentient being. But yet not rated that high even in the DC universe.

I think she's super interesting. With that unique ability they could have some villian with insanly high telepathy and need her to stop them. Plus as a character she would have a lot of growth dealing with her issues.

Dude! Malice is an O.G. villan from the 90's. The necklace and all that body swapping stuff. She was even Black Queen in the Hell Fire Club for a quick sec. She was so forgotten they brought her back with an actual back story. Which is cool, they never explained just what the deal was. I always thought she was a cursed witch put in the necklace by Morgan Laffey

Malice is not a new mutant, she existed for decades. She once possessed Polaris in the 90s in X-factor. U cannot kill Apocalypse as long as a single drop of blood of his exists. He will regenerate. It was already stated in X-force I think.

Hey Robert, thanks for the video. Was there ever an explanation for the events in the 6 month time gap in year 2000 after The Twelve saga where somehow Psylocke and Phoenix swapped powers? - Psylocke lost her telepathy but gained telekinesis, while Phoenix lost her telekinetic abilities but her telepathic powers grew stronger. when I stopped reading x-men around 2005 that was still the status quo as far as I remember but nowhere had that change for those two characters been explained or resolved. When did Betsy get her telepathic abilities back? - was it before House of X/Powers of X and does she retain any telekinesis? Same question re: Jean/Phoenix for her loss of telekinesis... Thanks very much for your explanation videos!

Mostly everyone was rebooted into what they are now since House and Powers. They never went into anymore detail as to how/why people changed. They just did. I think most fans feel that it was just great to have the focus on Mutants again that we all just went with it and called it good.

The reason that she’s not letting Betsy Braddock return to her body is because she’s still pissed that she’s not getting to bone a Brian Braddock and instead has to put up with a bunch of betsys running around as captain Britain which for her is like seeing the person she hates most over and over

my first love was ROGUE (Harley Quinn was shortly after and then Killer Frost from "Assault on Arkham") is always drawn with a 10/10 body but she is one of the best female characters bcuz of her personality/being well written & she has one of the best powersets (Top 10) in all of comics. and i cant forget to mention that Rogue was a great leader for The Avengers

I collected and enjoyed all of the X-Factor incarnations, so I’m liking them put into play, but writers messed up my connection to the Britain Corp. I miss the old corp, and Saturnyne and Brian. Malice is a handful. My fave was when she took over Sue Storm in 90s FF and it was a tense 3 issues or so, plus the sexiest Sue outfit ever. Totally untrustworthy, I suspect she’ll end up playing both sides.

Why are you treating Malice like she's a new character, she's been around since the Mutant Massacre as a member of the original Marauders team, she possessed Polaris for a couple of years. I find it odd that the writer of Excalibur would say that the latest death of Betsy Braddock was traumatic, or that Jamie would need a clone even when back during the Destiny Diary era she was beat to death by Vargas only to be brought back to life by her brother Jamie out of thin air, only to have Betsy act nonchalant about being dead and coming back.
