A NEW UNFOLDING OF BEING (A TRIATHLETE) | DISCONTINUED EP.05

It´s been one month since i came back from my journey to New Zealand. A lot of memories and impressions. I raced 2 Races in 2 Weeks at the Challenge Wanaka und and Ironman Taupo. I wasn´t happy with my performance but i learned. so much about myself at this trip.
WHAT IS SUCCESS? WHAT DOES REALLY MATTER?
My Filmmaker made the suggestion to show this behind the scenes episode with unseen footage out of his perspective. And i agreed without knowing the outcome beforehand. I hope you like it. And always remember:

Time for a coment in german, sorry guys... Sehr, sehr gut, Rene. Für mich die erste Episode, die richtig erzählt ist und sitzt. Sehr schöne Kamera, guter Rhythmus, hier und da noch ein wenig pathetisch (Mitte), aber geschenkt. A new unfolding of being, ist nicht nur Titel, sondern eben auch Thema. Und Sebi, mit besten indirekten Grüßen, ist ein top Protagonist. Top, weil er ehrlich ist und kämpft, mit dem Sebit, der er war, den er nicht recht ablegen will, der sich aber doch verändern wird. Nicht nur, weil eine sportliche Aura zu Ende geht, Ziele neu justiert werden müssen, sondern weil seine Persönlichkeit auf die Bühne tritt, die festhalten will, was sie bislang gefestigt hat. Sehr schön, wie sich Sebi, ganz offensichtlich mit Vertrauen und dem nicht selbstverständlichen, aber dazugehörigen Mut begleiten lässt. Es sind die Dinge, die in seinem bisherigen Leben Fluch und Segen waren, die ewige Jagd nach dem Platz ganz oben, den Siegen, der besten Performance, die bei einem Long Goddbye hinterfragt werden. Lange keine Blicke links und rechts, der notwendig egozentrierte Blick, das Mindset, dem plötzlich Ziele fehlen. Blicke die sich auf andere, neue Werte richten. Ja, es geht ums WERDEN und davon liegt ein Teil auch immer erst vor einem, sonst würde man schon sein. Ein Blick in die Zukunft, ein Blick auf den der man war. Sportlergeschichten müssen immer ein wenig egozentrisch sein, sie wären sonst nicht ehrlich. Ich bin gespannt, wie viel davon am Ende übrig bleibt. Auch wenn alte Kräfte den Laden zusammengehalten haben, tauchen neue schon schemenhaft im Nebel auf. Weiter so - wenn ich das so sagen darf. So macht es Spaß zuzuschauen. :-)

Not only that Sebi is an outstanding character and his story of the last season could also be told by just using a cell phone camera, Rene makes this series of videos real art. I have seen a lot of Renes video on his own account (missing the VLOGS and stuff from the past :-) ) and the ones he did with Laura Philipp but this work and this episode in particular is outstanding. Please keep it up. It is wonderful to watch!

In 1989 I won my age-group and got Top-10 in a triathlon. Success? Honestly, who cares. It was a local race, only two people I knew were there, nobody saw it in the newspaper, and I had many horrible races. Success is when you really, really try your best. The result is not success. You can always make more money, run faster, bike harder, etc......and who cares what others think. Do your best, that's the pinnacle. I probably gave 80% and got 80% back. Not great, nothing I can do about it now....

Die Reihe möchte authentisch wirken. Ok. Leider wird durch das furchtbar schlechte Englisch, auch von Seiten des Sprechers, genau das Gegenteil erzeugt. Wenn ich authentisch wirken möchte (und kein Englisch kann), dann spreche ich in meiner Muttersprache. Für das internationale Publikum kann man Untertitel anbieten. Sonst tolle Reihe!
