A New Way To Play World of Warcraft That Feels Like "WoW 2"

While it may not suit 'high end' content, this is almost certainly a fantastic way to experience much of what World of Warcraft has to offer.

Führer It is in fact a track from the original vanilla game. This track is mainly known to be in the gnome/dwarf starting area Dun Morogh, but can be heard in a couple or more zones throughout the game. I'm not sure if it's in the game now since I don't play Legion / retail. Hardly dislike what they did to the game which was an actual mmorpg with a soul. Since I've gone off topic, I hope you will find my answer informative.

If you did a full voice acting add on of the old world I would 100% go back and replay all of those quest and take my time with it. Even though I have pretty much all of those quests memorized at this point, an add on like that would make it feel new and probably a bit nostalgic. Awesome idea!

I would love to see this addon come to life my biggest recommendation is that you make sure that you have someone that knows the lore of WoW really well to help clear up any continuity problems as much as possible. Maybe Nobbel87 would be interested in helping not sure how much time he has to do a project like that but i think that he would enjoy it as much as anyone else. I see a lot of potential in this idea and hope for the best for you and the team. And who knows Blizzard could love he idea too and be supportive of it. You never know. Great video as always.

Looks good; however, how are you going to get this done without Patreon or another form of kickstart? Actors need to be paid, the computer work needs to be written and tested, etc. The community understands this is a test, some of us WILL be happy to fund under those circumstances. PS, I'll willing to not only help fund, but proofread.

So we're pretty well positioned to pull off something like this, at least in theory. So Thomas and I started a studio last year and managed to get funded. We've been working on our first project for a year, though much of that time was business bullshit. But we're now getting ready for our second game, which is our first proper PC title. So through doing all that we've got experience pulling funding together, hiring people, working with sound designers etc. The goal would be to put our own time into making a vertical slice demo, a bit like how it'd be done in the industry. The demo would be part of one of the started zones. We'd then take that to Patreon and ideally have episodic releases every month or two. But you're totally right, it'd have to be funded via something in order to get the team together. Ideally I'd like to have a software developer working on the project so that the UI component could grow into something truely innovative, and then, as a stretch goal on Patreon, see if we could do animatics/cutscenes/machinima. We'll see how it goes - baby steps first! Appreciate your sentiment, i'll do my best go get this going :D

this is great i used to use Xpadder still do for some games but came across this addon. As crazy as it sounds i like to be on treadmill while playing wow or just grinding quest ect,this makes so much fun and easier to use and functions better then my Xpadder setup. I think this is a great idea! Watching it, it really enhances what I like in WoW! I would happily support this on Kickstarter and Patreon if/when you look to go that route. You should do a video on how to set it up the way you envision it too. I have recently started using a controller on my laptop but know that I was hesitant thinking what controller to use and how to make it work in game. Really looking forward to how it goes. Erm. Gamepads are platform agnostic. Some games on PC play better with them. When I think of consoleplebishness, it's 720p upscaled at 30 frames that comes to mind.

Well personally, I am an altoholic and I don't mind leveling at all and I do think it's quite fun. I try to do it differently every time if I can. I think this would be a great idea for leveling but I can't see it being very practical for raiding or mythic progression, as you need better reactions than a 12 button controller can give you, also you would most likely need more buttons. But just mindlessly killing or clicking things like when you're leveling shouldn't be a big issue. That's all I meant by it.

The Turdinator My guild does HC yep. There's no difference really beacuse the addon helps with the movement, it's really just muscle memory. If you can't do it then it's not the controller that's the problem.

I use these to play on my GPD WIN. (Laptop the size of a 3ds, with 3ds controller setup integrated, and full keyboard) best purchase I've ever made. I can play in a nest of blankets when I'm sick, I can take it in my pocket wherever I go and play wow anywhere, if there's no wifi, cell Hotspot. These mods make playing on the gpd not just functional but fun too. :) thank you for sharing these, they helped a ton. I was using joy2key before and it wasn't as smooth of a user experience for wow.

That would be like shooting themselves in the foot. Reason? If they make WarCraft IV, it will have to be set after current events to keep the story going. Maybe not right after this x-pac, but after any potential planned expansions. This means that once they reach that point, they will no longer be able to expand the story of WarCraft in WoW and if they make side-stories, they would still end up at the beginning of WarCraft IV, with nothing meaningful happening. Either that or they should make WarCraft IV as they did with the Warlords of Draenor expansion; separate dimension/timeline. But in all honesty, it would be weird if they made a game that would not have any "real" impact or any interaction with the current time-line in WoW, as it would be nothing but a world of "what if?"s.

Yes! I think revamping old world stuff would be really cool for leveling new characters and exploring the world over again. Especially with how the world is now, how you start a character in post Cata wow, sometimes going back to Vanilla WoW in some zones, jumping to BC and then WotLK, before going back to Cata, and progressing through the expansions from there. It's a weird experience and updating it all would be really cool to see. You have my support!

I like the idea of both wow with a controller and the voice over addon. I messed around with console port before and got it up and running but it was a bit clunky and at the time I found it hard to switch back and fourth between playing with the controller and the KB,Gaming Keypad and Mouse that I normally would use. I am very open to trying again for leveling toons to 110 over the long weekend. What changes have been made to console port over the last year to improve it? Just mad I suppose that Blizzard and the amount of money that they get on a monthly basis and 12 years later and the game is a lot worst now than it was when it started. And yes that my own opinion, some might enjoy it more now. But it's got to be getting bad when there subscription numbers are dropping and KZbin creators are quitting the game. For the people that still play and enjoy the game then I hope they continue to. Me? I suppose I just want the old wow, but no going back I suppose.

Yea, everyone eventually gets bored of it or moves on in life. I had actually stopped playing right after WotLK, then played draenor for like 2 months lol.. Now, ive returned again but im not playing a massive amount. Im enjoying it though. Don't they have those Nostalrius servers? You'll probably enjoy it there.

I have been thinking something very similar - that WoW needs a more modern UX - and started to write up a forum post but your video makes the case much better than my words could. (My background is 20+ years in sw biz, started as dev, ended up as exec at sw company. I have met Mike Morhaime several times in the past in biz meetings and saw a pre-release WoW preview in about 2004 ) WoW basically has the same 2004/2005 UX with minor refinements, while the game content and mechanics have lept forward at a fast pace, the console biz has exploded, the idea of being a "gamer" has gone mainstream. Blizz has managed to avoid needing to make major changes to the base ux precisely because Add-Ons have replaced the need to innovate (or disruptively change) the ux. Screens have grown in size, and the Blizz base ux that pushes key elements to the edges has created a need fo substitute HUD style ux for the built in controls. CPUs/GPUs are much more powerful allowing for more complex renderings and players are quite accustomed to a more dynamic scene so something like DynamicCam makes perfect sense today in a way it wouldn't' have. So if you can guild this all into a single addon that goes beyond ElvUI/DynamicCam/WeakAuras/etc. that would be very cool. So.... Is there a need? Yes! Will people pay for it? Some will, but not much - Blizz slurps up 99.99% of the WoW $. Patreon is a good bootstrap approach. Is there a risk Blizz will take the best ideas and bake them into v.next of WoW? Of course! Should you still proceed? YES! I like your videos precisely because you go beyond commenting on the game - you think beyond what players experience today, to the way WoW could be and you build detailed rational arguments (and super videos) that make your case. I'm sure you will make this happen. Good luck!!!

Absolutely love your game idea!!! Not only does it sound epic but you could also bring on some of the patrons to do some added voice acting for "difficult" characters. Not only would it help you diversify the way the game sounds, it would also help patrons looking to get in to voice acting as a career.

oh damn cant wait for the vid tmrw! I used to play FFXIV- A Realm Reborn and Heavensward on a controler (while farming content not for progression) and i kinda miss exactly that kick back feeling in my living Room at World of Warcraft

After playing WoW for 8 and half years, I'd love the idea BellularGaming! Being able to sit back, relax and just had a controller to play WoW with improved dialogue and such. I've played a lot of RPGs as I was growing up, Fable being the best out of the vast majority of them and being able to experience that in WoW would be awesome!

ConsolePort is awesome. After having some issues with a herniated disc in my neck and stuff I found myself unable to use keyboard and mouse to play games. ConsolePort saved my hobby (and sanity), and now that I'm mostly better I can't stand playing WoW without it! I'll definitely have to try everything else you have going on here. Looks great!

An add on such as you have suggested @BellularGaming is an absolutely great idea. I don't know how many times I have leveled new Alta and it is always the same voices, over and over. It gets boring, but such as a change like this could really make leveling a new alt more fun and enjoyable. If this is possible I would proudly sponsor it with my time, money, and voice if need be.

HA! LOL! I've actually been doing this since the moment the Action Camera was rereleased... I decided to do it with the Frost DK, because all of their AoE's are not ground targetted, but rather centered from themselves. It's even more awesome that I spoke with Monk and the developer of the DynamicCam Addon and recommended that they get together and work on something about a month prior to this video being posted. Even more stoked about hearing about the whole voice acting/quest gameplay rewrite, and would even REALLY enjoy being a part of helping put it together, even if only as a volunteer voice actor.

This idea for an addon sounds like an excellent idea I'm very curious to check it out! This is basically the closes to an offline version. Just a way to grind out old content without dungeons I know me and my guild mates would love to play through the old world like this!
