i grew up in san antonio i left in 81 for the airforce in 87 i moved to corpus with my second wife she was born there we lived in the area till 2017 when work got bad we went back to san antonio but moved back toward corpus in 2024 now in three rivers but i feel corpus is more like home than san antonio ever was

Interesting built in 57. Year I was born. But, I don't remember shopping there until much later. Mom did most shopping out on the Navy base. At First we lived a block from Gulfway Shopping center. After we moved to a block from Bel Aire Shopping center we went downtown to shop. Gang of us kids would go every Saturday after noon after all chores were done. We did go to Woolco. It was a cheap place. The only places I remember going to was the library, S&H green stamps and a 5 and dime place and a fabric store. We would go to Sears a lot..uptown. Before the mall was built we would shop at Lichenstens and eat at a Luby's like cafeteria. But I still to this day miss downtown shopping and library. So many shops to go to. I would spend all day down there. And had some great diners.
