Just a reminder that Platinum pens designed to consume less ink than most of the pens out there. I have PTL 5000 a and this pen only sniffs ink and does not skip. (I saw the ink consumption chart at the manual and I did not believe at first but this Platinum pens ink really last longer.

I cannot believe how many views this video has. It's interesting to see how the channel has grown without my interference. I wonder if I should ever revive it. It'd probably be a lot better because I can just hear the nervousness in my voice. Lol

The most delicious [& descriptive] pen nib analogy I've ever heard :)

Thanks for the demonstration. I have been planning to branch out and try some of the more expensive pens I watch being used in your sessions. I was raised using Sheaffer and sometimes Parker fountain pens. These pens were well within my budget and I'm still happy with my small personal collection. The light crisp feel of a fine or even extra fine nib gives me a very satisfying sensation as I write notes or correspondence.

Of all 3 Japanese "standard" brands, I do prefer Platinum to Sailor and Pilot :-)

Thanks for the comparison. I do like Pilot over Sailor. I recently ordered the Platinum 3776 UEF. Anxiously awaiting its arrival from Japan. Even more so now that I have seen this video. 🖋❤️

Particularly helpful, as I was bidding on a Sailor 1911 Realo with an EF nib. I am still not sure, but you helped me a lot.

I much prefer Sailor's mediums to Platinum mediums, but they do different things. If you want a dry thin nib that still functions excellently, Platinum looks lovely! I just prefer wetter thicker nibs...

I always finds it fascinating to see people write with fine nib. I like how it looks on the paper, but i myself don’t really like it when writing. And it is also the first time i see someone who writes on the lines.

Thank you very much for your video! It was such a nice comparison between those fine nibs. I happen to have some Fine and Medium-Fine Sailors and a Platinum 3776 Century EF, and was thinking about buying an UEF in Bourgogne for that added thinness. Thank you again!

A UEF is a very different experience than an EF. i got a Platinum UEF by accident. The box said SF. After inking it up and writing with it, I got out my lupe and saw it was actually UEF. I have grown to love it, though! If you are going to compare a Sailor EF to a Platinum EF, it would make more sense. No shade on Sailor EFs! But the Platinum UEF is great for really tiny writing, and also if you are in a situation where quick-drying, non-smearing ink is important.

I am trying to decide which one to buy in the next december, I was thinking about Platinum 3776 EF or the Sailor 1911S EF, but since I practice Business Penmanship, this UEF seems so captivating... Would you say that the UEF resembles a bit the feeling of a sharp mechanical pencil?

Would you say that the Platinum UEF is comparable to Pilot’s posting nib?
@anguswhite823311 ай бұрын
think how fine a nib seems is very dependent on which ink you’re using: my Platinum 3776 UEF is inked up w Iroshizuku fuyu- syogun and my Sailor 1911 large is inked w Aurora blue/black: the Sailor writes slightly finer:)

platinum sure knows how to make an ef nib, I have a preppy, now going to a kakuno and will see how they are doing. After a bit of time I would like to get a curidas on ef or maybe the 3776, to use as much as possible during a master, I love writing with extra fine fountain pens.

Curidas has multiple issues .. people I know were generally unhappy with how it performed. You would do well to pick the Decimo/VP/capless. Or moonman A1/A2

i imagine you’ve bought your next pen by now. I have to tell you, though, that my Platinum UEF pen is the ultimate if you like fine nibs. Even microscopic print is legible. The writing experience is great!

Thanks for the video. Where either pen's nib modified in any way before the writing sample?
