For a Nigerian to be told “tone down” a bit by people from East Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania) is very right because Nigerians are very loud when speaking, both men and women there’s no difference when talking as is part of their culture and it feels like they do that for people to hear well or may be the level of hearing for people of Nigeria is low er than that of East that someone has to raise the voice for another person to hear well. In East Africa people speak with low tone especially women are not used to high tone when someone is speaking unless that person is Angry and Yelling at another person. That’s is the main difference between the people of West Africa and East Africa.

I have thought about it and my guess is that many of the Nigerians I have encountered have spent a lot of time in Lagos and have learnt to speak loudly because the place, especially the markets, is very crowded. The few northern Nigerians I have met are not loud.

Amina, not all Kenyan men want the lady to share the bill. Well, about the use of the term "African" in Addis - I have been in Ethiopia severally, and from my experience, when they say Africa, it is normally not racist, rather it is more of a question - which country or part or Africa are you from?"" Ethiopians are quite friendly people and very appreciate of other Africans.

I am not sure but I am assuming that she is referring to all over, including neighborhoods. I think many of our neighborhood green spaces have been taken over. It seems like most people have to drive to get to the parks. We need to start planning for neighborhood recreation areas and other services rather than letting individuals build without consideration for sidewalks and greenery.

Ethiopia will have a GDP of 221 B in 2025 while Kenya will have 128 B and Ethiopia will have 129 million and Kenya will have 63 million population and Ethiopia will grow 2 to 3% more annually than Kenya. Ethiopia will do better in GDP than it´s neighbors even with larger population. What our African brothers don't know the West has a dron in its eyes towards Ethiopia because of its history of defeating the colonial masters and therefore Ethiopia has been systematically slaughtered for the last 70 years by esterners economicaly and by mass Media but now the West is at the end of its power and Ethiopia is becoming a new one Shine shine.Ethiopia is the light of Africa.

Most Nigerian men living in Kenya have learnt the hard way to tone down and be polite after some were rejected in many high-end residentials for their crude and abrasive behaviour. I have seen a big change now, meaning they have been warned. Kenyans are generally laid back, calm, and quietly confident. I have worked in parts of West Africa and the extreme poverty situation there pushes men to behave differently.

Ethiopia is much worse than she is saying. Much worse. Basic anything is considered luxury. A very basic restaurant by Nairobi standards is considered ultra luxury....and the waiters have an attitude. Silly things are super expensive. Like marie biscuits for 900/- Supermarkets in Addis are very few....and very empty. With very poor quality products. They also don't know what margarine or cocoa is. Meat in Addis is for the rich. Any meal with meat is hyper expensive. There is no barbecue culture. "Africa" is a term of contempt. Power cuts almost daily. Addis makes Nairobi look like Dubai.

I have noticed Nigerians are big with commitments while Kenyans aren't. Nigerians expect alot from colleagues, friends and family. ( In a polite way, there is an entitlement mentality when someone commits) In Kenya, we don't expect much from people like colleagues, friends or family. If they meet the end of their bargain well and good but if they don't, we can't hold that against them. - Also, as we speak, a general kenyan woman is terrified of a Nigerian man in terms of dating. Back then, Nigerians were said to be great lovers as they treated the women they dated extra special but as we speak that has changed. Kenyan women shun Nigeria men.

Ethiopians don't view themselves as black, nor do they view themselves as Africans. I learned that in DC. They usually date or marry their own and white people. They don't marry other black people. I learned to accept that.

The Kenyan lady wasn't polite in describing Nigerian men as very rough. She's not a good representation of how we describe people no matter what we think of em.
