Awesome Alyn as always. Can you list the battery pack you use on your Sony and the heater for your lens. I have a simular set up in Australia but I cant find a suitable battery pack here for my Sony. TIA Also can you do a video on post stacking images from start to end??

I'd love to see how you edit these images. And panoramas too, i've no clue how they're done. That last image is breathtaking. Thats both sky and foreground panorama'd and stacked? Blown away.

The same exact thing happened to me in July. I was on the top of the Roque, in perfect weather, setting up my equipment, and then a guard came, and told me to leave. :D

@martinlovekosi76746 жыл бұрын
I also had the same thing in March 2017... and the guy apologizes 10 times for kicking me out and ruin my timelapse :) but yes - in the end there are so much nice spots for photographing the Telescopes and the Milky Way so it was just okay. Came back this year for 10 weeks and found some good new spots and also spent a night there at the Isaac Newton telescope and the whole Group. It’s just incredible and nice to see you guys there having much fun and the results are incredible! Well done ! It immediately starts to tingle in my belly :)
@coldeb89115 жыл бұрын
Great Video... still not sure what was happening though, why did you have to move from your first location?, it looked like an ideal spot.
@AlynWallace5 жыл бұрын
Because it's within the boundary of the observatory and they don't want people with lights walking around whilst they're doing their research
@coldeb89115 жыл бұрын
@@AlynWallace oh..I see, That was a shame. .. well you still got a magnificent view and some great shots off regardless ☺

Great and entertaining video! I like your Astro-VLOG's by the way. So, it's not possible to stay on Roque de los Muchachos for a night? But where you made the startrail image with the obervatory?
@scotty44186 жыл бұрын
Wow, Alyn, that first image of the telescopes and star trails, was like the telescopes were looking into another dimension. All the other images were equally as stunning. In terms of being moved, was this because you were on private property?
@AlynWallace6 жыл бұрын
Haha they probably are! Thanks scotty dude

Thanks for sharing. Stunning work as always. Just booked a trip to La Palma in April. Is it just the very top that is off limits? Are you allowed to walk along the service roads and take photos around the telescopes during the night?
@AlynWallace6 жыл бұрын
The whole observatory gets closed off but there is a nice viewpoint from the LP4 road that's open all night
@eagleroth6 жыл бұрын
@@AlynWallace thanks. Now I just have to figure out how to get something similar to your great shots from those viewpoints ;-).

Santa came by early this year! Just won a bid on a used Canon 35 mm 1.4 mk2. This will be one of the lenses I'll bring to my astro week on La Palma in April, dedicated to night scape panorama images.. The second lens will be either a 14 mm Sigma as you own Alyn or a Sigma14-24. I am fortunate enough to borrow both of them next week for a shoot out. Game on.

I'd like to know how you do a 'tracked panorama'.
@AlynWallace6 жыл бұрын
Same as a normal panorama except the camera is mounted on a star tracker
@skymakai14866 жыл бұрын
@@AlynWallace Right, thanks. I find it a bit of a challenge to not lose too much to cropping with repositioning only using a ball head. Do you have any recommendations?
@maxspencer12896 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend buying an expensive Astro lens or just a mediocre lens with a tracker

I could imagine observatories strictly prohibiting use of lasers near them. Have you looked into this for using the MoveShootMove tracker?
@AlynWallace6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't dare use a laser around an observatory
@skymakai14866 жыл бұрын
Smart man. I brought it up because of your new tracker using a laser to get aligned.
@AlynWallace6 жыл бұрын
@@skymakai1486 yes obviously you gotta be considerate of local laws. Even without using the laser you can get an average alignment just by looking through the hole where you mount the laser, at least good enough for extended wide angle shutter speeds. At the time of filming this vlog I hadn't received the move shoot move unit, I was using the ioptron skytracker, so no laser :)
