The music in this game is some of my absolute favorite from the NES. I had this as a kid, and I remember lamenting that a 4 player adapter was needed to play as “Nancy”, which we never had. This is the video that I found your family of channels with too! I was looking up playthroughs of this other than the no commentary one from that Xanadu channel. Really just to hear the soundtrack, but I was very pleasantly surprised by your work and have enjoyed every subsequent video of yours I’ve watched!

One note I'm surprised you didn't mention... The enemies actually become a little harder to defeat when you are in a Nightmare. They take one extra hit to destroy no matter who you're using. 🙂 And one little nitpick... The opening title screen? Freddy's actually NOT wearing his iconic Glove, that was taken from a promo pic of Nightmare 2: Freddy's Revenge and was a 'bio-Glove' he used, having blades come right from his fingers, since he sent his original Glove into 'reality' for Jesse Walsh to use to kill others on Freddy's behalf! Not trying to be a pain, but as you likely guessed by my avatar, I'm a dedicated Freddy Krueger fanatic, lol! Thanks again for another great video! Keep up the awesome work!

My family didn't have the four score, but we did borrow an NES satellite for some sweet beach volleyball. It was a bizarre peripheral you don't hear talked about much these days, but it's notable for also having 4 controller inputs, and for being a wireless controller extender. Even the slightest bump would misalign the sensors, and then your whole game was unplayable until you fixed it. If I haven't sold you on it yet, this amazing IR device ran on no fewer than 6 C-Cell batteries. It was also heavy enough to beat a family member into a coma after they killed you for the seventh time in bomberman.

Haha hopefully it never came to that. But yeah, Nintendo must have struck a deal with the Duracell and Energizer camps.

Whenever you said "dream warriors", the song by Dokken got stuck in my head. One of the better made-for-a-movie songs I can think of.

I might be in the minority, but I actually really like this one. Fun game with a really great soundtrack. I tend to play as the acrobat as often as possible. I got fairly used to jumping and attacking in sync with the rising and falling of boss patterns, which helps to obliterate them pretty quick. Good strat on the head and hand. I thought other characters could make that really tough jump. Have to admit, I'm going back in to try it again myself (it's that time of year to play it again anyway!)

Yeah I actually think it's pretty decently designed. I like games which lend themselves to good strategies if you can find them like this one.

Man, just that picture of Freddy on the title screen itself was worth the price of an 8-bit game back in the day. Obviously based off a photo, but there had to be some major pixel-pushing to get it to pop like that.

Never played this one as a kid and was super confused by the basic lore until you explained it. "Why are there all these bones laying around, and why would the teenagers feel a need to collect them?" Just feels like a naughty pun taken WAY too far. "Lol all these kids want to do is bone." Unrelated, I feel like you missed a fun Fluff Fact by failing to mention that "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge" eventually found its claim to fame when people eventually realized that it might just be (literally) the gayest film ever made, easily lapping "Brokeback Mountain" and "Call Me By Your Name." (Totally serious. Rewatching it now is super funny. Amazing so few people noticed this when it was in theaters. The times have REALLY changed!)

@@VideoGames101 kinda makes sense, though, given the team of teens that try to take down Freddie together in the Dream Warrior movie. I actually like this game. It's a solid 7/10. Hard af towards the end, but, while not amazing, it really is a solid game.

I think it's a pretty good licensed title, the design is elaborate enough to encompass the source material which is often lacking in such games. Not quite as poor as F13th with the character classes/stats, tricky thing to balance the more characters included and the traits themselves have to contrast well.🤔 Some nice backgrounds and well leveraged palette swapping. They could have been more creative with the enemy designs as they don't inspired much fear heh. Shame they didn't do the blank-background setup for Freddy boss battles just to make him bigger sometimes and more varied in designs. Probably needed more developer time in hindsight. Lol yep cheap property in Springwood, much like the Amityville Horror house you can get some deep discounts when people keep dying there. Just watched the Elm films again, part 3 definitely is the most well rounded entry.😉 Going to try to get four people to play it with me this year but I think it's just complicated enough that I'll lose players before the end.😄

Ha let me know how the four player try goes; it sounds like madness to me.

Well didn't quite make Halloween but got 4 players together. It was really hard to get anywhere, the shared scrolling and the wide gap platforming especially. Quite a bit of flicker but I was expecting that, had to jump just see myself often. Didn't get very far but with verbal coordination you can get four to the other side most of the time. 🙂@@VideoGames101
