The film where Freddy is the scariest , and the great pool scene
@deforeestwright24692 жыл бұрын
I think Grady’s death is the best of the whole franchise honestly. Most of the other male protagonists are shown dying in their dreams, more or less isolated. Most are shown dying from afar, in darkness, pulled of screen, or in a flurry of special effects. Grady dies on-screen, in close-up, with Robert Rusler really selling that he is desperately terrified, screaming for his parents and with his parents screaming back trying to help him and not knowing what is going on until the blades come through the door. There is virtually no gore in the scene except for a little stage blood and Robert Rusler’s dying-face, but it is so effective.

I'm amazed that your guys channel has a huge focus on horror films, but at the same time, you guys aren't shills. You guys dont need to review a whole franchise in one sitting, there are others movies to talk about as well. Some channels only review movies or franchises because they're "trying to strike" while the iron is hot. Like how some people only talked about Predator since Prey came out recently. Im glad you guys just take your time on when you want to review movies. This is definitely a review I've waited a while for an I'm excited for it

I really did like this one, amazed it came out as well as it did with the ideas they were using..no Robert Englund? The fk? Enjoyed how went in a different direction, that was cool, Freddy looked real fking evil in this one too..I remember the scene with movement of his shadow outside the window actually making me jump real hard. 🤣 Such a simple scene but it worked.
@G_Elektrik2 жыл бұрын
It was not an easy task to continue after the first nightmare, I think they did a good job taking it in a different direction, and of course, Robert Englund establishes even more this great character that is scary but also funny to watch. This one always turns the conversation into the gay subtext, but that is not the meaning of the movie, it has elements that can be interpreted that way, but is not intentional, however that give it something else that make it stand out from the others in the franchise.

I have only seen the second film once but throwing my 2 cents into the Freddy in the real world debate: I agree with Wes Kraven. I think it works in the first film because the way its done, with Nancy pulling him into the real world. I don't think it does quite work with possession. But great video as always Scott 🤓🤓
@kyo29752 жыл бұрын
The reason that Wes didn't like Freddy coming into the real world, is because of the way he comes out into our world. He usually can only come out if someone grabs him and wakes up. Not through possession magic.

For some or many this is a very polarizing sequel. Rushed to the cinema & it shows. A decent story that had shaky execution. There's a excellent documentary about the making of this flick, it was streaming on "Shudder". This was the last truly serious in the franchise., before the one liners gala began. Still its watchable...it's not terrible. For the most part, good FX & make-up. As always Robert England is terrific. Overall a iconic series.

You accept and add into the interpretation the realities of “the Gayze” and just how big of a parallel with Jesse the character being afraid of being taken over by a murderer, and Marc the actor being terrified of his own homosexuality… the text(it’s not SUB when it’s blatant to those looking for it) is completely circumstantially gay… and Marc actually being gay… well it was a perfect storm. But you guys get it! You see the BEAUTY within the tragedy of Marc’s personal struggle… I appreciate your embracing of the gay, while also maintaining other VALID interpretations.

Okay, allow me to give you my interpretation for the ending of the first nightmare film. Once Nancy finally goes to sleep and enters the dream world, she never wakes up until I'm assuming sometime later because we see her in the third film. However, The only way the ending of the first film can make sense is to surmise that Nancy never woke up the mother died in her sleep and the father couldn't handle it so he became an alcoholic ,lost his job and in turn he and Nancy were never the same again. So technically, If you want to go by my logic Freddy was never in the real world for the first film.
@christianpecoraro61822 жыл бұрын
I consider what they call the "gay" aspect of the film akin to Amityville II: The Possession; It is an evil entity (in this case, someone who had a reason for an entire town to murder and burn), taking hold of another to keep killing. For him to do the actions he does throughout the movie implies that Freddy Krueger is, indeed, taking over his flesh with his own mind. It's supposed to bother you because of certain context for certain viewers, while others may even find it boring because none of it is bothersome. There is a clear split for this film. So it gets props for still being a controversy after all these years.

I keep saving your videos as workout videos and have a bit of a backlog so won't see this one for a while. Although there is a small number I like, I've never been a fan of horror films. I find their production and cultural impact much more fascinating. The Variety of movies of reviews you do makes your channel so interesting and you always give every movie your full attention. I've just watched the Ryan Renolds movie The Voices. Being honest I hadn't even HEARD of it, even for a Ryan Renolds movie it was weird. Well made, but weird in a good way and it was so interesting seeing those reactions as you recalled certain scenes or plot points. I said this in my last comment but for anyone new to the channel, go back through their videos and watch movies that you haven't watched or haven't heard of. It's too easy just to look for things that are familiar, let them expand your mind and horizons. Thanks guys.

I dont think Freddy was brought in the real world in the first movie. I dont think Nancy woke up and pulled him out of her dream. She realizes she's still asleep and figures out Freddy just feeds on fear so she turns her back on him and he disappears. Nancy was just so sleep deprived that she slept through her alarm. I mean, the ending where she leaves her mom's room at night just to end up outside in daylight just shows that she never woke up. I'm pretty sure she even says out lout that she's still dreaming.

Despite its flaws, this is better than anything after part 3, where the story should have ended with everything wrapped up. The only thing that hampered this film IMO was the rush to get it made/some script issues. It was trying to do something different than be a copy of the first. Mark Patton also gave one of the best performances in any of this franchises films. Kim Myers as Lisa is also very good casting. It also has one of the best openings of any of the sequels. Nightmare Jesse just felt like a new awkward kid in a new town. Like a huge anxiety fueled nightmare. The sound design in this is as good as the first. Even part 3 sound design wasn't good/Kruegers voice was all over the place. Fred Krueger should be creepy and scary with super dark wit, not the MTV pop culture referencing jokester he became starting with part 4 which is a less interesting or scary wannabe part 3. Part 5 is dreadfully dull and 6 is embarrassingly bad and an unfunny send off.

The problem with this movie is doing a story where Freddy is a metaphor for some guy being gay who screams like a girl simply really isn't what people want from a Nightmare film. With that said similar to Jason goes to Hell movies like this start to look better in context after more movies in the franchises have come out because you end up having so many movies that do stick to the formula that you then end up being able to accept the movies for what they are. This movie is a possession story that just happens to have Freddy in it as the monster if you can accept that then the movie is a good 8os B movie.

Difference being with him being in the real world in the second movie is that he had his powers still. In the first one he was dragged into the real world by Nancy and was a "Normal" guy, which is how she could kill him. He's not meant to be able to just go into the real world out of choice and still have magic powers.

@deforeestwright24692 жыл бұрын
But remember after Nancy pulled him into the real world and set him on fire. She went to get her dad, and then they both came into the house, followed Freddy’s flaming footprints and found him on top of her mom. Then her mom sank into the bed and all that. . . That movie gets very confusing towards the end regarding the distinction between reality and dream. Even in the beginning of the film Tina doesn’t just die in her sleep as if she died in a dream. Her body levitates and gets dragged up the wall and across the ceiling. That all clearly happens in the “real” world. So obviously Freddy’s influence is not as limited in the first film as most people assume by “the rules”.
@harrypothead420242 жыл бұрын
Anything any of the actors or filmmakers say about the production of this movie is taken with a grain of salt. They are all trying to recontextualize and redefine what they were doing at the time. Mark was not playing this as a closeted gay man because he was a closeted gay man and the one thing they fear more than anything else is being Thrust out of the closet. I like Freddy's Revenge a lot.
