I am so grateful you made this video. I am a beginner quilter and was struggling with this block because they had me cut the corners way bigger than what is needed and then telling me to "estimate" about where it would go. after messing up countless of these blocks i was searching for a video to help me when i found yours. I no longer dread having to do this block thanks to the very clear instructions you provide. Please keep doing videos, you have a great way of teaching.

You are a God send. I had asked a few people to help me in knowing how to do what you just demonstrated, some did not reply and the one that did was very very rude like her time was more important then helping people to learn. I was very upset and hurt. So I want to Thank you Dear friend for caring enough to help and demonstrate the process so I could learn. It is people like your self that are such a Blessing to others and I want you to know how much I appreciate you and your time.

This is the easiest most practical method I’ve found. I started off by adding 1/2” Until I built confidence that it was so accurate that I now use a 1/4” addition. So straightforward and comprehensive. Thank you. All the other videos were so complicated.

Thank you so much Laura for such an informative tutorial on something that I was quite perplexed as to how I was going to do diagonal blocks!!! I always like to challenge myself with something new (I have been quilting for only a couple of years) and there is no shortage to the expansive quilting wonders!!!. Laura, your style and calmness of teaching is a great way to share your experience and knowledge. I also appreciate that you use the basic tools and that you also give an option if one doesn't have that specific tool. As I compose this, I have completed my very first diagonal "no math" block and it looks AWESOME!!!!! Thank you. Sincerely, Leona

Laura, thank you very much for the instructions on making the triangle corner blocks. Just the other day I was trying to reproduce a quilt block from memory of a quilt my grandmother had made that was given to me. I had the hardest time figuring out what size to make the triangle corners. I finished the block but gave up writing instructions because I didn't know what to write the measurement as. Because of you, now I can! THANK YOU!!

I had to revisit your tutorial to better understand triangle usage & placement regarding bias. I watched a tutorial by Heather Thomas on National Quilters Circle about cutting Corner triangles & Setting triangles when filling in a quilt top where the blocks are on point. Now your tutorial makes even better sense! The bias edge should be the edge sewn to the square . ~ I also love that you explain how &why to do the measuring different ways. Thank you for such helpful tips. This bias concept just puzzled me until now.

I'm with you on using the 1/2 inch measurement so as to easily square up the block. For those of us who don't always sew an accurate scant 1/4 inch seam, it eliminates the stress of potentially loosing points on the inside block. That close-up at starting at 2:40 was perfect for helping us in understanding this concept. Thanks! And those paper-pieced flower blocks were just beautiful!
