Also I had never heard of Aelin until i read her name on the page, but I was pretty certain that there was a secret royal identity going on from bits and pieces throughout the first two books and then when Celaena said to herself that the Aelin Archer was talking about couldn’t possibly be real I was sure it was her. I’m so excited for the rest of the series 🥰

I'm still not sure how I feel about the reveal. I guess because even though it's 3rd person POV it still felt like we knew so much of how Celaena was thinking and feeling and got glimpses of her history it felt like we as the reader should've known way before this? I heard about Aelin before reading and knew where it was headed and I honestly expected a whole reveal where Celaena herself didn't even know, like something blocked her memory of where she came from. I haven't seen very many people feel this same way though so maybe it's just me, but that's really the only major reason I didn't give 5 stars!

I can totally see that! I feel like that's something SJM likes to do where she hides information from the reader, even when the characters we're following actually know what's going on. I think it's a fair criticism!
