What a beautiful house filled with so many amazing details. Loved the paintings, the chairs and the bed with the floral fabric. Stunning. Wonder what happened to the couple and their children. The photos show so many cherished memories from the couple and their family.

He said there was only one male child, so he was not interested in the mansion. It means paying taxes and upkeeping property that he probably could not afford.

I love watching the Bros of decay They are two of the best! You are entitled to your opinion. The ones that go in breaking windows, poking holes in walls, shattering mirrors, and spraying graffiti and writing obscenities are the ones destroying and doing harm. I stand by my comment and love watching my favorite team of explorers that go to places we would never see and even telling the history of the places are to be commended and many thanks for allowing me to see places that I will never get to go. Since being diagnosed with a brain disease that has affected my ability to walk and causes dizziness so bad that I fall when I try to get up on my own. Was taken to ER 2 weeks ago covered in so much blood that the ambulance crew asked that I be taken straight to a room. My hair was soaked in so much blood and my gown was soaked to the point it had to be thrown in biohazard waste. I am so limited in what I can do so I watch the BOD Videos as they explore some beautiful places,castles,palaces and very beautiful abandoned homes and they do get permission to explore when they can and that’s also how they learn the history of the places they explore. They never take items with them and are very careful in all of their explorations not to cause harm or damage to the properties they explore. I say keep up the good work guys and I look forward to many more of their adventures. Love them❣️❤️❤️❤️

So many questions! You guys need a professional researcher to dig deeper. Is anyone still paying rates. Were the people reported missing , maybe they are in witness protection! Or living on an island after being shipwrecked. Did they take the dog? They must have had relatives somewhere. After 10 years someone must inherit the property.😊

Hey dear Lesley Thank you so much for sharing this absolutely fascinating revisit in that still quite intact beautiful abandoned French manor house. I loved listening to the dialogue you had with your excellent camera man Danny. Sometimes he saw something interesting, where he could draw your attention to it. I especially loved the explore tour through that remarkably beautiful living room and also the dining room with really stylish antique furniture and smaller antiques on the tables and side boards. - Very beautiful paintings were throughout the place visible. Wow, the former owner was really a truly talented artist. - Also all these photographs showing life moments of the former owners frozen in time, were so touching and remarkable to see. - I always love seeing you, dear Lesley, pointing out surprising and interesting objects. You really have such a good eye for details, bro! Amazing! Stay safe and take care. Wishing you all the best, peace and kindest regards from now again quite sunny Switzerland.

Wonderful presentation, thanks for sharing. I'm going to take a guess and say this is a 3 generation manor house. Generation #1 & #2 lived and died in the house and generation #3 lived there for a while then decided their inheritance was better spent travelling the world by sailboat than restoring the property. They just seem like the adventurous types.

That dusty piano was made by the finest piano company in the world, Erard of Paris . They were the equivalent of today's Steinway and Bosendorfer pianos. They are still sought after. Google says: Erard pianos earned the devotion of many well-known players, including Liszt and Mendelssohn. Although Chopin preferred Parisian rival Pleyel's pianos, he nevertheless acknowledged the beauty of the Erards and admired their consistency in touch and sound.

I see two possibilities here. Scenario 1: I know some people leave France in a rush to avoid taxation (there's a lot of family pictures in the house but maybe they just took the most important ones). Especially very wealthy ones. Looking at how unorganized or random the objects in the cabinets and kitchen are; most of the expensive items were removed. The front door was open. Seems it was done very clean. Almost like a locksmith did this which could indicate it was done under authority of a bailiff on behalf of the French government aka Impots (thus indicating it is related to a tax issue). A burglar would just smash a window to gain entry. At 36:34 you can see that the book shelves in the office are bent from the weight of books but that they are no longer there. Someone clearly removed more than half of them possibly because of their value. Must be someone who knew the value of things. As an antiques dealer myself; the items that are left are really not that valuable. It was definitely cleaned out and it was done by a professional. Scenario 2: The only thing that concerns me is the car. If they went abroad or went sailing they would have taken their car. But the car is still there. Worst case scenario is that there is a possibility the owners could eventually be found at the property somewhere (foul play). But if the owners made a run for it (which is more likely); they probably left the car on purpose. You would not want to leave it at the airport or near a harbor because then the government could easily trace you. My first guess is that the owners took off for taxation reasons and moved abroad in a hurry. I used to live in Provence and there was a family who did the exact same thing; they left/abandoned a multi-million Euro property and moved abroad in a hurry. Something about taxes. Rich families. I am pretty sure that the French government (Impots) knows exactly what happened in this case.
@frontenac5083
@frontenac5083 Жыл бұрын
LOL! What? Nobody leaves "in a rush" to avoid taxation! What are you talking about? Some people avoid taxation, some others leave in a rush but how are these two things supposed to be related?
@Ekam-Sat
@Ekam-Sat Жыл бұрын
France is pretty strict when it comes to taxes. Like I said. I knew a wealthy family that left their property in Provence almost overnight and moved overseas to avoid paying taxes. So yes. It does happen more often than you think. If you have a sudden windfall of many $$$ that's what people do. Also. France has some of the highest inheritance taxes. Oftentimes children cannot afford to pay the inheritance tax on the home of their parents so the home goes into probate. That's the reason why so many big houses or even castles are abandoned. @@frontenac5083

Have you ever gone to a place where you had the feeling that you shouldn't be there? Or a place that made you feel strange? You should be careful entering the places you go to.
