I think dealing with crowds in the remake is definitely much harder than in the original. Staggering a zombie and melee attacking it offered very powerful and consistent crowd control. They seemed to have nerfed staggering as well as made the melee attack much weaker. As a trade off, they gave us the knife parry, which is a very strong defensive tool, but it doesn't offer the same crowd control as the old melee attack. That being said, I did personally enjoy my playthrough on hardcore, but I certainly took a beating. Definitely a test of patience lol.

trying to get S+ on hardcore is infuriating. constantly rolling my eyes at all the bs. imagine remaking a game just to make it worse
