Nice job! The solid aluminum one may actually be a scoop rather than a small shovel. It may have been used in an old hardware store, or candy store or someplace where you would scoop something out of a bin or barrel and pour it into a small bag. 🤔🤔🤔

I had the same thought.

That is really quite possible. Being as thin as it is, to fit into a small bag or a medicine bottle makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing. I was great to have you stop by the shop for a visit. Have yourself a great weekend and a happy new year.

Those hand spades turned out great! It's always hard to research tools on internet because of the information overload, hard to tell who's right🤔. See you next time and Happy New Year!

Thank you. You’re right the Internet is not always the best source for good information. Usually gives me a starting point, but I’d like to have information from some other place before you nail it down. Thanks so much for stopping by the shop for a visit hope you and Bruno have a great weekend and a happy new year.

Thanks so much. I think I like the green too, the only thing that gives me pause is that they tend to camouflage well in the grass, and when other people leave their tools laying in the yard, I hit them with the lawnmower.😄 thanks so much for stopping by the shop for a visit. Have a great weekend and a happy new year.

Always nice work! Those look great! That aluminum one looks like a seed scoop! From the seed and feed store's!!

Thank you. I have had several suggestions on that aluminum scoop. Someone mentioned it might’ve been from a pharmacy or candy store. As narrow as it is, it would fit down into a small bag or a medicine bottle. I said scoop is possible. Somewhere I have one of those it’s a little bit larger and would serve better for a seed scoop. As always thanks for stopping by the shop for a visit Have a great weekend and a happy new year.

I have that same aluminum trowel from Canada. I bought it as a three-piece set in the mid 1980's from the Leichtung catalog. The other two pieces were a wider trowel and a pitchfork.

I imagine the stamp and form process for making these would have been interesting to see. Excellent video!! Have a great weekend!

I was wondering the same thing. I wondered how many steps it would take to get that shape? Thanks so much for stopping by the channel for a visit. Have a great weekend.

Nice restoration and paint! Those appear to be fairly modern stamped steel. I’m not a big fan of those because the hollow handles always get crammed full of mud and can be very hard to clean. That Canadian one you showed is excellent. I have a few of those and they are virtually indestructible. Have a great week. 👍🏼😃

Thank you. I don’t claim to be any kind of an expert in judging that stamped steel, and I am open to any other who has the knowledge about it. I know exactly what you mean about stuff getting up inside. I personally always pick up my tools and don’t leave them outside but others in the family will sometimes leave them out in the rain and that’s when everything gets messy. I presume you could clean the inside out with a bore brush. I should have mentioned in the video that I don’t think the connection between the tool and the handle is very strong. If you could ever confirm when they’ve been manufactured that would be great. Thanks so much for stopping by the shop for a visit and have yourself a great weekend and a happy new year.

The aluminum one (made in Canada) looks more like an ice bucket shovel, to me at least! Thanks for the video!

That’s a possibility as well. Somebody else suggested it may be a scoop that was used as an old pharmacy or candy shop. It’s a good little tool. Thanks so much for stopping by the shop for a visit. Have yourself a great weekend and a happy new year.

I bought a pair last year and spent some money because they were stainless steel. One didn't even make it through the season before the weld broke. You just can't get the quality of the old tools anymore.
@toolscouter

I think you are right about that. You can get really good quality stuff today, but it just cost so much! Thanks so much for stopping by the shop for a visit. Have a great weekend and a happy new year.

I had a digger like those for a long time. The wood in the end of the hammer got so bad that it was cause lacerations every time I used them. They may still be in my shed and could be a project. Could you tell me what model number is your corner clamp that mounts to your bench surface? Looks like a Stanley corner clamp I have that does not have the bench surface mount. Wow the anvil did the job today. I would be on the look out for one like yours. Good video. Happy New Year.

@toolscouter Жыл бұрын
I did find several examples on Etsy, so I was wondering if some of my viewers wouldn’t have some of these tools. The clamp you’re talking about is a Stanley and it’s a No700. My anvil is just a railroad rail. It took quite a bit of gray need to get it shaped right and it’s still not perfectly flat on top but it serves my purpose. Thanks so much for stopping by the shop for a visit. Have a great weekend and a happy new year.
