You got that correct. We happened to reach there same day when biggest foreign trip came there. So operator was short of guides/porters and had to arrange from near village, plus we were on a budget 😛 . Rates are fixed 8000 per day per porter, 20 kg weight limit and their food is on you.

That's clean land. You didn't have to put your life in danger to get water for wudu. You could do Tayammam with that clean dust/clay. Don't make Islam that difficult.

@@IndusJam I don't doubt you after that clarification. But, please, tell your friend to not to put his life in danger for water when tayammam can do the job. You do hiking which is dangerous, so you must always tell your companions. I have seen people doing wudu with warm water in summer and with cold water in winter because it give them extra thawab. That kind of ignorance can be found only in Pakistan and India.
