Endocrinology Diabetes
The endocrine system is a network of glands and organs that uses hormones to regulate the body’s metabolism, sleep, blood pressure, growth and development, emotions and mood, fertility and sexual function. Endocrine disorders can impact one or more of those functions.
At Arkansas Children’s, we provide comprehensive care for children with many endocrine disorders, including:
Diabetes
Thyroid conditions like metabolic bone disease
Obesity
Pituitary conditions, like Growth Hormone Deficiency (Short stature) or panhypopituitarism
Adrenal gland conditions, like congenital adrenal hypoplasia or Addison’s disease
Prader-Willi syndrome
Turner syndrome
Our team includes highly trained doctors, specialty nurses and clinic nurses who are experts in caring for children with diabetes, complications of obesity and other rare endocrine conditions.
Our team of specialists provides extensive, detailed education to you and your child to teach you how to live with and manage specific endocrine conditions.
Treatments include:
Counseling
Exercise
Medication
Surgery
Growth Hormone Therapy
Hormone Replacement Therapy
At Arkansas Children’s Center for Obesity and its Consequences in Health (COACH) Clinic, we offer a family-centered, multidisciplinary approach to preventing and treating obesity in children.
Clinical Trials and Research
The pediatric endocrinology team at Arkansas Children’s is actively researching the best treatments for diabetes and other pediatric endocrine conditions. This means your child receives the most advanced care available, including the chance to participate in clinical trials when appropriate.
