A perfect spring day at the cottage
I’m so happy to share that my book - The Cottage Fairy Companion - is now available for pre-order!

Today I am starting my springtime cottage flower and herb garden. For the most part, I am starting from seed. My goal is to make a 100% edible garden (or at least, edible parts). So far I will be growing sunflowers, calendula, camomile, nasturtium, lavender, violas, and several others. My goal is to have a mini container garden to compliment the garden patch. These herbs and flowers will be used for making my own diy herbal teas, salads, desserts, and other recipes. I also hope to have a little berry patch down the line as well. Fingers crossed my rabbit doesn’t eat everything!

I have taken a decision to home educate my daughter, she is autistic and was so unhappy at school. She is flourishing at home following her passion which is art. She is learning a lot. You are such a gentle soul. This world needs more people like you.

My kudos to you, Margo. I homeschooled my children. My daughter has a little one with special needs and has to homeschool her. It is so very challenging for Mom day in and day out. Don't give up, pray for strength and keep on keeping on. You are working with the most important subject you can...a human life.

The older I get, the more I believe that who we are as children is our "true nature". Many of us get lost in the hustle and bustle of growing up, casting off "childish things". Making a conscious effort to come back to myself in recent years has revealed that the real me, the girl who loved to sneak out of the house in the early morning to walk barefoot in the dewy grass, who devoured Celtic folklore stories and stayed up late to gaze at the stars, is still there, and there's such joy in embracing that.

Paola has made me think about what my "true nature" is by thinking about what made me happy as a child. I remember what joy I had playing in the rain and splashing in puddles. I loved walking in the woods and playing in the fileds. I was usually alone, except for my beautiful white horse and my imagination. I was shy and had difficulties with learning so I hid from people from fear of teasing and from fear of just plain mean kids. Nobody knew me except my mom. Wonderful woman. It is sad that it took almost 71 years for me not to allow people to hurt me. Sure wish I had been younger before I realized "I am ok." So with spring on its way i am looking for my first puddle. Love to all Victoria

I think science is finally catching up with you. I read up on this last year, and the general consensus seemed to be that we are our true selves between the ages of 9 and 12. I made a list of all the things I liked to do back then, and enjoyed quarantine by starting to do them again. Of course I couldn't go outside as I used to, but I could still do my nature drawings and write books. I'm so happy that you managed to find your true path. God bless always!

So well produced, you are very gifted in this form of communication. On your advice, I recently purchased “The Boy, the Mole...”and sat with my lady friend and read together. We really enjoyed that experience and it inspired great conversation. Keep up the wonderful and creative work you do. Many love you (in spirit).

D'arcy's such a sweet soul it seems to me he deserves a munching garden of his own. Had Peter Rabbit been afforded such a generosity he might have left the big garden alone - but if that had been the case then what would Beatrix Potter have written about? The non drama of PR's exemplary behavior would not have made for a best seller.

You've inspired this Grandma to play in my little cottage in a small town. No it's not the countryside that I grew up in and loved so much. But it is where I have landed after health issues and wanting to be close to my son and his family after the passing of my dear husband. I have a beautiful little deck off the back of my cottage and a half wrap porch on the front. I'm going to container garden !! I'm going to paint on walls and paint with my watercolors again !!! Thank you for inspiring me and for your lovely video's! I love seeing bare feet ! That's me as the weather is warming up !! Hugs from a Kansas Grandma

Oh my! This Memere is doing the same thing. Kids are grown, my only grandchild is 17, and starting her beautiful life. Time for me now, and I'm loving it. I also paint (acrylic), and love to play in my little side yard. I too wish, but don't live in the country, but I find my own little quiet space. Yes, do your container garden. I have always had a veggie garden. I started doing containers last year, and LOVE it!!! They grew beautiful. Tomato, spinach, beans and lettuce are the easiest. Helpful hint: Tums calcium 750mg melt 1 per gallon in water, then add to container a couple times a week. OMG they grew the best they ever have. I have refreshed my kitchen with new painted walls, (a lovely medium yellow), some new blinds and curtains. No empty nest feeling here, we've earned our personal time. Lol

Mr Darcy is shedding all over the place this week despite being brushed multiple times 😂 also, I apologize if the audio during the last minute of this video is a bit low, I did my best but my mic just wasn’t working quite right. Thank you all for your lovely words last week, I deeply appreciated reading your comment and insights. It is very important to me to not allow yt to put ads in the middle of my videos, so that they can be as relaxing as possible. For some reason by default it turns them on and I sometimes forget to turn them off or don’t realize. Please alert me if you ever have an ad in the middle of the video, I probably forgot! Thank you all ❤️ Also a VERY special thank you to those lovely people who contributed to some of my cottage decor lately, it is magical and I hope my thank you post has arrived. Lots of love, Paola

I wrote a poem the other day about a "secret recipe". I decided to write about plants since I have one in my room and it is slowly dying😂😥. I thought I'd share it here since I think you all might enjoy it. I don't much poetry (though I'm trying to change that) so please bear with me. First and most important Water. Water is life. It is essential. Don't water it too often It will die, But if you don't water it enough It will die. Balance is key they and they are all different in their needs Find it! Next, Sun Light Energy All these come from one source So be sure to give it plenty! Not too little It will die, But a little much is..... kinda okay. Last, but not least Your care. For they are alive just like you are And to flourish and grow just like you They need love. For this There is no limit

Thank you for this observation, isn't it so true. I've been such anxious, shy child that I never understood people saying ohhh I wish I was little again. But through therapy, I realised that safety and comfort I needed and longed for was in few little moments in my childhood that made me feel safe and peaceful. Even right now, as a 24 year old, I am very afraid of the idea of having kids, but this gentle approach, parallels with childhood in her videos, they make me feel that it doesn't have to be that bad.

Heart of Kentucky. Hi sweetheart Cottage Fairy. It's spring here too. I had the most beautiful day outdoors today. I went to the park, and walked along the creek. Went to the pine trees to pick up a pinecone, then I ended up at the University. It's Christian, and students come here from all over the world. I keep you in my prayers. It's just past midnight. Your friend, Katie.

I used to be homeschooled when I was in elementary school and I loved it!! Growing up in the country and being homeschooled was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. When I was in fifth grade my mom got a disease and she no longer had the energy to be able to homeschool me and my 3 other siblings, so we had to go to school. I remember crying when I found out and crying for like the first month of school after I got home. Now I’m in high school. This year I’ve been virtual bc of my moms disease and during this time I’ve realized how much I live being home and having freedom. I love wandering through our woods, and training my neighbors horses! I love to just be able to walk out the door into nature!! I’ve been able to pursue my hobbies during my free time!! Now I wish I wouldn’t have to go back to school in the fall!! I wish I could remain virtual but I don’t think my parents would let me, they want me to have the “high school experience “ that they had. But I’m not them and I don’t want to be in a building with 1,000 other kids all day long!! I don’t know how to tell them!! Help!

I think this kind of education and homeschooling would have been perfect for me. I was shy and reserved as a child, I enjoyed reading and learning quietly, playing with my toy animals in the garden and exploring the woods around the house, and school soon became an environment that were too noisy and violent for me. I'm glad you got to experience homeschooling and benefit from it !

This is so beautiful and calming to watch 💛💛💛... indeed we can learn so much from plants 🌾 I can relate to the issue with your rabbit ... I have chickens and they love a good succulent seedling 🌱🐤😅 . I'm getting a tractor coop made for them... Much to my dismay..as I love having them out and about but just this week an eagle ate 1 😔. Do you let your rabbit roam out? And are there natural predators in your area? Thank you for sharing your stories with us!! 🎨🖌️

My dad came to visit this weekend (I say 'came to visit'... he walked over from next door) and behind him he brought a trail of chickens who immediately set upon the garden that my sweetie had just been out working, tilling, planting, and laying down straw. They were kicking straw this way and that with wild abandon, and probably upsetting some of the newly planted things. While it was delightful to watch, my dad did say he would probably have to build an enclosure to keep them on their side of the property, though I suggested we could also put up wire fencing to keep them out of the beds we don't want them in. They are so fun to watch.

Wow, this is some hardcore cottagecore - very inspiring. I'm sitting a loud, grungy, dark, city apartment, waiting to make my break from it when the school semester is over. Time in the country has made city life painful. The endless deafening traffic, the constant smell of diesel and pollution, people yelling, the dead concrete and lack of green life, the oppressive "hustle" culture. Your videos are an escape, and some rural rehab for the city madness. Thanks.

If you get a chance this spring take a trip to the 100 rd above conconully, it is so amazing what’s growing in the wild! I was so amazed by the wild strawberries, roses and lupines! I hope I can see it again this year and photograph it!

I started watching your videos when I was lonely and desperate, during one of the (many) covid lockdowns in France. I needed art, museums, flowers, connection, ideas, silence.. Something that can bring me back to life. Then I discovered your channel and every one of your videos helped me to slowly get better (among other things). They bring me so much joy, peace, inspiration, hope. You're one of the things that helped me understand what I wanted from life, what I wanted to do with the time, energy and ressources that I have, which kind of live I could build, how and why. You have an incredible vibe, aura, and strength. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to exist and share with us your experiences, thoughts and delicacy

I’m grateful for your insight in leaving some knowledge gaps. Way more often than I wish, I find myself wanting to research and analyze to the nth degree...which is the barrier to just beginning and trying. And I am embracing that discomfort with knowledge gaps more as I release the fear of making a mistake. Because yes...Mr. Darcy may get to all the edibles and enjoy himself immensely. And then likely you’ll plan the garden a bit differently next time! Or not. It’s all ok. I felt encouraged from your approach to start and observe what happens. Beautiful video, as always!

So here's a thought that's been on my mind everytime I watch your beautiful videos and yes I know its out of point but when I was in school I was always made to sit on the edge of the bench (school benches were/are usually a long wooden bench shared by 3-4 students in India) since I am left handed because everytime I sat either in the corner or in-between other students, I would get in their way while writing with my elbow or took too much space. And that had always made me feel somewhat different from others. But now seeing and meeting many left handed people like yourself, made me so proud to be one! :)

I absolutely love rabbits. I had 21 rabbits when I was a child. And through the years always had one or two. My last rabbit passed away recently. She loved to run lose in my backyard and she absolutely ate everything I planted. I didn’t mind. I miss her. I buried her under our lychee nut tree which hasn’t borne fruit in almost a decade. Now for the first time in ages my tree is flowering and looks like we will have lychees again soon. I think my precious bunny lives on in that tree.❤️🐇🐰
