St. Augustine is the oldest continually settled European-occupied city in what is now considered the United States. It started as a Spanish colony in 1565, so it actually predates Jamestown by almost 50 years. It was briefly under British control from 1763-1783, before becoming Spanish again, then a US territory, and then Florida officially became a state in 1845. The city also has strong ties to the Civil Rights movement, which few people realize. So it has a very multi-layered history, which is what makes it fascinating. Thanks for highlighting it!

Thank you for this amazing comment! I wish I would have researched a little more so I could have talked of the Civil Right movement as well. I pinned this comment so others are sure to see it

I live in Tampa, FL. My favorite story is related to Tampa theatre. One of the stores told on a ghost tour is about Fink Finley who was a projectionist at The Tampa Theatre in the sixties. One day, in 1965, he unexpectedly suffered a heart attack while showing a film. He has been known to be seen in the photographed in the theatre’s projection booth There was also a ticket taker that what attacked and killer. I think his case was ever solved. I believed Ghost Adventures filmed an episode there as well.

I need to look into this one! I feel like I vaguely remember a ghost show going to a place like this, but I can't be sure. I do love the Ghost Adventurers though. I use to put on episodes as background noises all through 2019 and 2020.

Not personally. I love the history of it all though. I did a walking ghost tour which was very informative but the scariest thing was the flying roach that landed on the tour guide’s shoulder.

Native Floridian here. If you like the stories of that area you should look up ghost stories about the St. Augustine lighthouse. The story of Dolores is one of my favorites from the fort, which I have visited many times. I LOVE St. Augustine and all its history. St. Augustine was a province of Spain quite a while before the fort existed though. Sorry, don't mind me!

I did see the lighthouse as well! I almost couldn't decide which story to do, but Dolores was too good to pass up.

I think one of the most well known haunted places in Ohio is the Mansfield Reformatory. I know they do tours and I’ve always been interested to go. You can also spend the night there during Halloween time. Notably The Shawshank Redemption was filmed there.

There is a place called searcy hospital in Mt. Vernon Alabama (about 15 minutes from me) that is a closed down asylum that is supposedly haunted by the patients that died there. It’s guarded by police at night. I sent you an article link on IG because it wouldn’t let me add it in the comments.
