All I have ever seen before are air drills. But used the same for drilling holes for dynamite. So if you can get some dynamite you can blast all of those big rocks. You will be a full-fledged "powder monkey" and have a lot of fun at the same time. Would make a great video!

Thx for sharing. Amazing machine. But, that drill bit was dead, wanst it? As i know them, the have some kind of hard metal crown on them. I look like, it was worn of long long time ago. Its cracy that it even drills with a blank steal tip. At least back in the 50s-80s swedish steal was the gold standart for drill bits. They payed enormous amouts of money to import it here to the former GDR for our underground minig operations. Was this alread the case back in the 30s and 40s?

Hi! Yes it was very dull. I have a diamant sharpening tool that i can sharpen them with. The crown was good tho. Lots of material left but hard to see in the video. A sharpened bit runns way faster than this. And i will before the next video. Than it will be drilling and blasting rocks. And yes, Swedish drills and iron over all has always been very good and a good income for the country. /Richard

Cool,I've never seen one of those other than in old reels from the earlier to mid 1900s ... I'm too old and lazy to use one of those these days,I'd rather just attach the hammer drill to the excavator and sit in the cab working the controls 😂

Very good thx. We would lay them on the ground 5 mins running to warmup. Keep bits sharp! you got a good driller Get you a set of feathers and wedges, split some rocks Pull pts dress on oil stone reshape to factory specs

We used a similar one in the Swedish army. The name was “Pionjär” = Pioneer. It was a two stroke like this, could probably wake the dead when going full.

I've lit fires on and then tipped iced water on big rocks to break them in the past. The drill would be more fun i think!!

thanks for the videos! it has been a while and patience has its rewards ...more old machinery makes me believe we are loosing something through progress where it is obsolete before you bought it wears out before its service life and isnt designed to be repaired maintained or rejuvenated . personally i think its time to get rid of the safety guards and backup alarms but thats another topic lol. looking forward to more machines and the information you provide with them.

Your ability to get machines to cooperate is amazing! I have seen a similar machine that was made for packing dirt, but it operated at a much lower speed. The cylinder was very similar. I cannot imagine operating a machine like that daily to drill rock. It is also amazing that the carburetor was able to function reliably and had not been damaged by vibration.

You can get high-nickel-content cast iron repair electrode for both stick and wire (ERNi99, ERNi55). You still have to pre-heat, but the odds of cracking are lower and the strength is higher, vs. using any random wire like ER70S6. ;) Also, I am astonished they would use a cast part on the business end, subject to so much shock, when something forged would have been far more appropriate...

Careful putting that old gas/petrol in your mouth, it's probably leaded fuel (with tetraethyl lead anti-knock compound added)
