Mr. Drasin...my name is Antonio and I'm a 44 year old natural bodybuilder / competitor. I'm the sin of Italian immigrants who came to America in 1966. My entire upbringing from my father was stories of Steeve Reeves and Dave Draper. He used to tell me about going to see the Olympia in 1969 and bumping into Sergio Oliva. So, at the age of 40, I finally decided to follow my heart and become a bodybuilder. I can't begin to tell you how much I long for what you speak of in this video. I am an old soul and I feel lost in today's society. The millennials at the gym don't quite give me the same commaraderie like you had at Gold's. Yes, I woke up one day....and it was yesterday, 20 years ago. I hope to one day meet you my friend. Thank you for this. It filled some small gap for me.

Even me, a millennial, don’t fit in today’s gym environment. I guess even young ones can have old souls...

Love those memories Ric! I lived on the East Coast during the Golden age, and before I joined the Air Force, and can remember the Academy of Music, where Weider had his" Mr", shows each September. Had great conversations with Chris Dickerson, Chet Yorton, and they were very friendly and helpful. That same night, Larry Scott, had won and then retired as Mr Olympia, and was mobbed! Joe Weider and Scott were 🏃 running for their lives down the street, and we're saved by Leroy Colbert and his Caddy! And Weider and Scott, were"high stepping "! Your story brought that back to me, and I really miss those days. Keep them coming Ric and Cheers Bro!

Thanks Ric, been a fan of this channel for about a decade. Surely you have enough of a fan base, photos and stories for a Golden Era Book?

I can just imagine how good it must of been in the 70s...I can only remember from mid 80s to now as I was born in 77...it really did change even from the 80s to the 90s was different... It seems the further back decade you go life was more simple.. I can now appreciate growing up in the 80s riding bikes and listening to the walkman. Also the peak of wrestling.

I got to see the 70s but I was a little kid , born in 68 . I remember seeing you guys in those muscle mags in the 80s. A friend of mine and I were inspired by that and pumping iron of course. We've been working out ever since .Thanks ric

Love these old stories. The 70s was the best decade period IMO. The Movie Boogie Nights really described the 70s excess great and the way the 80s went downhill. I never liked the 80s even though I was still young it just never was as fun as the 70s to me anyway.

That was awesome Ric. You have had a good life and you can have eternal life. JESUS CHRIST is the MESSIAH and He is the only way to the Father, in Heaven. His Father is proud of you because you made the most of your talents He gave you and He loves you so much that He sent His only Son to die for you if you will turn from your sins and obey His Son. It’s not too late and you can be baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Heaven is an awesome place where everyone gets a new body but with no dingaling for the devil and his demons to try to tempt us to defile, because people in Heaven are like angels and do not reproduce. Angels are strong! This life is a test, and now it’s time to start getting holy to be ready for Heaven. www.theythoughtforthemselves.com I love you Ric, you are a good man. Now become holy and righteous. Amen.
