I'm honestly surprised at how much attention this map got. I honestly adore multiple animator projects so much because 9 times out of 10 they'll introduce me to a new song that I've NEVER heard of before. This song is honestly really good? Can't believe I've never heard it before. 10/10 what a bop. Anyway this map is honestly wonderful? Also that colour palette? Yes please! We stan smurf Mapleshade. I love the artwork here as well as the tweening. Everyone did such a good job!

tbh this is one of my favorite mapleshade maps I adore how it doesn't instantly villanize her but in a way humanizes her for all the struggles and bs she went through. if ashfur can get into StarClan for loving too much can I get my woman mapleshade in for being a badass and getting back at those who were indirectly responsible for killing her kids. ALSO THOSE COLORS ARE TASTY DAMN

NixSol I think the difference between Ashfur is possibly Ashfur regretting nearly killing those cats, while Mapleshade didn’t. She killed Ravenwing, Frecklewish, and Appledusk, and had no regrets for it. She was also happy to be in the Dark Forest (which can be seen at the end of her novella), which shows she doesn’t have a single regret. Though I do believe Ashfur deserves to be in the Dark Forest, but I think that was why one went to the Dark Forest, while the other didn’t. It also wasn’t anyone’s fault but Mapleshade’s for the death of her kits. Ravenwing was doing his job by telling Oakstar about the kits possibly being not fully ThunderClan, while Mapleshade did lie about the kits being Frecklewish’s kin. As for Appledusk, nothing he could’ve done would’ve saved Patchkit, Larkkit, and Petalkit. While Oakstar certainly deserves some of the blame, at the end of the day, it was Mapleshade’s fault for crossing the river. Nevertheless, I still find her an amazing villain with such a tragic backstory.

Sorry sorry I'm late! It's mostly oakstar's fault I believe. He banished kits and knew mapleshade wouldn't take them there cause he led raids there. The rest of the clans wouldn't take in a stray warrior. Possibly if she said that thunderclan had banished her kits she would have made it to shadowclan and windclan. The only option was riverclan. She had to take them across the river since there is no other way. So it's kinda oakstar's fault. He played a role by banishing 3 kits. 3 KITS. Even though he could've used them as new warriors but I guess that's how thunderclan worked.

@@Jay-qn8lm I know I'm late, but in her book, Frecklewish asked if Birchface was the father. Mapleshade didn't correct her because, oh well, why not? And Thunderclan broke the warrior code by not helping a queen with kits. Frecklewish watched Mapleshade's kits drown and did nothing. And of course, Appledusk acted like he couldn't get away from crazy Mapleshade and that he instantly regretted being with her when he was told she was expecting, even though he was actually "happy". He framed her for her kits' deaths, and Riverclan wouldn't help her.

Choc_ Chip Choc_ Chip Appledusk definitely wasn’t a good cat, though there really wasn’t anything he could’ve done to save his and Mapleshade’s kits. By the time he knew that the kits were drowning, the kits were already dead. While yes, Appledusk definitely should’ve tried to understand that it was an accident, it truly was all Mapleshade’s fault. She made the choice to cross the river (even though it was overflowing). While sure, some of the blame could go to Oakstar for allowing the kits to be put into that situation, it still was ultimately Mapleshade’s choice to take the risk and cross the river in an attempt to get to Appledusk. And in all honesty, I can’t blame Frecklewish for not jumping into the river to save Mapleshade’s kits. Frecklewish was ThunderClan, meaning that she likely couldn’t swim. It would be suicide for her to jump into the overflowing river to try to save Mapleshade’s kits. She would likely drown as well, or not even manage to save a single kit. Now she could’ve gone to try to get help in ThunderClan, but that might’ve taken too much time, and most ThunderClan cats can’t swim or are very poor swimmers. There was little Frecklewish and Appledusk could do. Now I’m not trying to claim that Mapleshade deserves all of the blame (in all honesty, I think Oakstar deserves a good chunk of the blame for exiling a queen and her kits, which would ultimately put the kits in danger), but a good chunk of the blame for the kits’ deaths does fall on Mapleshade.

Jay I just want to point out that it’s against the warrior code to put kits in danger. Oakstar knew it was about to storm. He knew Twoleg place wasn’t safe. He knew she couldn’t go to Shadowclan. Oakstar was very much responsible to some extinct for there deaths. Same with Frecklewish as she stood by and watched three innocent kits drown. They broke the same code. I agree Ravenwing did his job. Yes there is nothing Appledusk could’ve done to save the kits but he was downright ruthless to Mapleshade who had just lost her home and children. Plus he’s a cheating bastard. Sorry I got off topic. I agree most of the blame falls on Mapleshade but not all of it. Lots of cats broke the warrior code in maples book which to me is what made it so interesting.

Wo ah Holy shoot- I expected a good animation, and this not only went to the limit of good but past that to breath taking! There are alot of good animations, but none really strike me with emotions because I have learned how to fight them off while watching animatics. However, this animation just snatched that wall away and charged at my heart, nearly seizing it at the end when Mapleshade saw her kit's spirits one last time before she passed on! I did not honestly expect to almost cry- I want to say this was amazing to watch and you animators continue what you are doing!

i love this so much- honestly one of my favourite warrior cat maps. it stands out from the others, i never had read mapleshade's vengeance, but i really understood the story told by this! most maps, you would have to read the books or the script to understand, but i understood everything just by this very map. thank you to all the animators, and the host for creating this wonderful masterpiece!

can we talk about how the only bad thing appledusk really did was cheat on his mates? like he felt bad for it obviously and mate up with his actual mate, he never actually did anything to mapleshade other than that. meanwhile, mapleshade killed three characters, tried to kill appledusk’s pregnant wife, killed her children (albeit on accident) when she could have easily not taken them to riverclan and hidden somewhere else with them until they were old enough to cross the river. mapleshade deserved to go to the dark forest, she didn’t even try to fight for her place in thunderclan with her kits in the first place. remember guys, she killed *THREE* characters in awful ways. *THREE*. how many did appledusk kill? i’ll wait.

AspenPaw Arts all of that was kind of her own doing lol. she manipulated him, so why would he want her in the clan? and it wasn’t him that turned her away, it was riverclan’s leader at the time. he knew what he did was wrong and he owned up to it, unlike mapleshade. mapleshade tried to make excuses for her actions, thus causing us, the readers, to try and sympathize with her. she doesn’t deserve sympathy, she still killed people and tried to kill a pregnant lady as well.

Ok so I’ve finally read Mapleshade’s Vengeance and... Why does *every single map* just throw Myler out the window? Yeah, he only appears twice, but he was there when Maple died...

Omg this MAP literally perfectly portrays their relationship. Most people like to think that Mapleshade was in the right, and that Appledusk deserved everything he got, but this Map shows the reality. Don't get me wrong, Appledusk screwed up big time and the Reedshine thing was literally the ultimate jerk move, but that didn't deserve death. Mapleshade, on the other hand, is literally a psychopath, naive that she could have the perfect life with him, turned into a literal serial killer to ruin and end his life after he two timed her. I will say tho, as the mom of the dark forest. Slay.

Haha I know this map is months old but I can't stop thinking about this lol. Appledusk's little tuft of fur under his chin makes him so adorable and he kinda looks like a goat I'm just saying he looks so cute even if he was kind of a jerk. Bootiful map btw the designs are so cute

DoctorWhoXIII He truly is. And it annoys me when people rush to defend Mapleshade, when she certainly did worse things compared to Appledusk. And, in Appledusk’s defense, we don’t know his entire story. Maybe Appledusk was planning on cutting it off with Mapleshade after she had her kits, since I believe it was about three months since they met again. A lot can happen in three months/moons. As for Appledusk turning Mapleshade away, he was possibly full of grief due to losing Patchkit, Larkkit, and Petalkit. But we’ll never know since we don’t know his side of the story.

Lest you all forget, Reedshine was already pregnant and heavy with kits when Mapleshade crossed the river-therefore he’d been cheating on her for QUITE a while. Remember the scene when he met he kits? He pretended to love her. No matter how you slice it, he cheated.

My friend introduced me to this today and I love it it’s nice and smooth and a very calming song yet the animation gets you through a lot of feelings and that’s what I love about this you and everyone else did amazing on this well done to everyone who worked on this I just love it so much 👍👍👍👍

I loved how you changed their colors back and forth. Also, love how she had that crazed but sad and lonely look in her eyes. I don't blame her... she shouldn't have gone to The Dark Forest! It wasn't fair!! Sure she killed them... but still! I mean she became evil and killed (for the last time) my favorite character, Spottedleaf. OMG it's so hard because my 2 favorite characters kill each other (Well...
