Parents can effect some change in their local districts by attending school board meetings, reading the agendas, budgets, and curricula, by talking to their elected school directors. They will also need to talk to their state and federal representatives, though, too, because of the requirements and expectations affecting local districts from those levels ("competencies", tests, mandates, etc).

We've seen people try to do stuff in Florida. Our governor has made it so they won't get in so much trouble for just reading to the school board what the kids are being given to read. During masking, though, a mom was thrown to the floor and arrested in front of her children; her crime was not having her mask up over her nose; a cop approached her so close that she reflexively pushed him back a bit; that was "assault." Pinellas County School Board. She was in jail overnight. HOWEVER, I am so proud of you for doing whatever you can. It seems we get very little representation on the school boards, city commissions, and county commissions: one or two real representatives.

It makes me very sad when I hear someone say that American as we know it, is ending. But I also see that is true, morality, civility, justice, and love of country is rapidly disappearing and the future looks dark if people don't wake up and see what is going on. Selecting the best candidates for elected office is not being done, it's become a beauty contest based that is not based on who will do the best job. I agree that Congress is NOT doing their job and has not for decades, they have delegated their power and authority to bureaucrats who care more about keeping their jobs (often by expanding their office) and personal profit than about doing what is best for our country and the people. Greedy, unprincipled, self-important people. Of curse members of Congress now are more about expanding their own power and wealth than doing their elected jobs. As has long been said, government is NOT the solution, it is the problem, it's too big and it can't be everything to everyone. Lazy voters expect the government to take care of them from cradle to grave ignoring the cost and the danger while marching toward becoming a totalitarian state. Before long voters are likely to find that we have delegated our power and responsibility to the government and our votes will soon mean nothing, we will have lost them. I thank Heritage and Hillsdale for telling it like it is, we have been warned and if we do nothing the consequences will be upon us.

Hillsdale, are you aware of the 350 FEMA trucks staging at the airport in Oscoda, MI? It's a former Air Force base. The town hall meeting from 2 weeks ago, about 10-11 minutes into the video, explained it clear as mud and finished by saying that there's nothing to worry about. What are they doing up there when there's so much to be done in the hurricane aftermath? Is Michigan about to get a large influx of "new neighbors" that the citizens didn't know about? Is there an emergency that FEMA knows about that we don't?

Teachers must be well prepared and respected to deliver the best education in terms of techniques, books, and materials to reach every child so that the students have a firm foundation to accomplish each student's goals in achieving the student's dreams of how they want to serve their community. Thank you for a wonderful discussion. I’m encouraged by your proposal for a 12-year schedule for our shared cultural/civic progress, as it is at least realistic in recognizing the level-of-effort required. One initiative I would recommend in this 12-year plan would be to develop a set of K-3rd grade readers on the history of America which would be written in the simplest language so parents could read them to their children before bedtime. This would benefit the children, but it would also facilitate the education of the parents about the wisdom of America’s Founding Fathers. The publications could be offered as PDFs, eliminating costs for parents. One additional book should be written separately for the parents discussing the nature and importance of time, the most valuable resource in the universe.

This was great! Enjoyed the discussion. I am sure you are aware of the Article five Convention Of States. First I do not believe Congress would ever pass a balance budget amendment or term limits, why would they? COS currently has 19 states which have called for this convention with legislation in almost all the rest of the states that remain. The only way for these amendments to be added is We The People. As you have so appley put Washington is a big problem for conservative Americans and self governance.
