I disagree with this list. Ironically if Bill O'Reilly had better judgement, he may have been a president himself, yet his judgment lets him down, the idea buchanan could have stopped the civil war is laughable, only the greatest men of that time could do that, and he shouldn't be blamed for the war starting. FDR should NOT be given credit for winning the war, any president at the time is likely to have done that.

I absolutely agree. FDR's success and New Deal ideas came from Huey Long's stardom(he authored them during the 1930s) and was considered the Donald Trump of that era. Bill forgot to say that FDR, like Lyndon Johnson, did some subtle shady things between the Japanese internment camps, against anti-lynching, and appeasing Stalin's overall goals in the East.

I'll have to buy the book now, sounds fascinating. I'd strongly disagree with Lincoln and FDR in the top 5. FDR brought us a lot of the crap we deal with to this day. And Lincoln could have easily avoided war and still freed the slaves. Should be Washington, Teddy R, Jefferson, Reagan and Polk. I knew about Polk from taking Tennessee history, he was remarkably practical and effective.

Agree with some of O'Reilly's best/worst list of Presidents. For me, I think FDR deserves the top spot as the best President, leading us through our worst economic crisis, then through most of our most extensive war. He didn't mention this about Polk (Who I agree was one of our best Presidents), but one of Polk's fiercest critics during his time as President was a young freshman Congressman from Illinois, with the last name of Lincoln, who thought Polk had intentionally started the war with Mexico. This same Lincoln is the same man who many (including O'Reilly) consider our greatest President. That may be a chief reason why Polk's Presidency isn't talked about more, or why he isn't better known. As far as achievements in office, Polk has been one of the most successful Presidents so far.

@@hw5091 If FDR was so terrible as President, why would he be re-elected FOUR times in basically landslides? We were a lot better off economically in 1940, than we were in 1933, when FDR took over. If WW2 was the ONLY reason we got out of the Depression (It wasn't), why didn't we go back into a Depression once the war ended in August, 1945? He faced stiff opposition politically by those who were isolationist/ not wanting us to go after Hitler, who wanted us to stay out of "Europe's war". One of the most famous of these people was Joseph Kennedy, Sr., (JFK's Dad) who FDR appointed Ambassador to Great Britain. He only lasted a couple of years in that position, because he had sided with Britain's Prime Minister at the time, Neville Chamberlain, who attempted to appease Hitler. Stalin also initially tried appeasing Hitler, but then reluctantly joined the Allies after Hitler stabbed him in the back and attacked the USSR. So FDR wasn't the only one who knew what Hitler was doing to the Jews in Germany, and at first did nothing. FDR did do some things wrong (Trying to stack the SC, putting Japanese-Americans in internment camps), but don't think he deserves to be in the "bottom 10".
