I was listening to this Then my cat came Now I'm truly a villain, sat in an armchair petting his cat and making plan Edit: for all the folks wondering, I'm French and not used to the use of preposition in English (because we don't need them most of the time in French), so I guess I should have wrote "my cat came IN", but guess what? "Something is wrong," I muttered as I swept through the dividing curtain into my sweetheart's office. He sat slouched in his chair, a half-eaten pear in his hand. "Hello, lovely," he greeted, smiling easily. "Hello, Mack." I glanced at the papers flung wildly around the room-- this wasn't like him; not one bit. "Is something wrong?" "Not at all. In fact, in a few minutes, all will be perfectly well." His serene tone sent a chill down my spine. Just the day before, he had been nearly hysterical as he searched for the money he owed Dr. Benton. We both well knew that if he couldn't find it, she and her friends wouldn't exactly forgive him. "So, you found the money?" He grinned lazily. "No, but then I realized I had something even better to offer Dr. Benton and her colleagues." "And what is that?" I asked, a chill settling in my stomach. He didn't answer for a moment, just stood up and tossed the pear on the floor. I stared at the fallen fruit, trying to decipher what was going on. Finally, he approached me and grabbed my waist, pulling me in for a kiss. It had been awhile since he had kissed me like this; gentle, soft, loving. When he finally pulled away, I smiled softly, cupping his cheek in my palm. "You sure are feeling better, aren't you? What was that for?" His fingers slid off my waist as he took a step back, and he clasped his hands together behind him. "That was goodbye." My smile slipped from my face. "What do you mean?" When he didn't respond, I stepped forward, causing him to retreat a pace. "Mack, what do you mean?" His eyes turned to something behind me, and I spun to see Dr. Benton there. "Hello, Savannah. It's a pleasure to meet you." I stumbled away from them both, feeling my breath rising. "What do you want? Mack?" He smiled at my desperation. "I'm sure Mack has told you about all of my medical advancements I've been able to make over the past few years," the Doctor mused. "But I'm not sure he explained just how I've done it. You see, most of my techniques wouldn't get past the Hippocratic Oath for anything. That's why I must receive volunteers from time to time to help out. And you, my dear," she continued, chucking me under my chin, "are my latest volunteer."

"If this message has made it to your hands, then my victory has been secured. My agents have breached your walls and distracted your guards with this letter just long enough so that the traitors in your midst may put a red stocking in with the white linens being washed. Consider yourself beaten and your wardrobe considerably pinker."

Not gonna lie- I got waaaaaay too hyped listening to Winter. I'm supposed to be writing a story, not dancing in my chair, and yet here we are. Thank you for a wonderful playlist. Great job!

Machiavelli wasn't exactly evil, I think. From what I read from and about him, he was known for considering that being ruthless was the optimal way to rule, sometimes. Not that I agree, though

@@jmiquelmb I'd agree the mans just got a bad rep, he thought politics was always marred by treachery and crime. His philosophies emphasise on deceit and conspiracy, from what I read. He just rationally thought that to rule well you need to control well and anyway you do it, as long as you get your result, you shouldn't worry about the steps in between. Basically, "The end justifies the means" approach. I'd also agree that I don't agree with some of his thoughts but he do be a legend/villain in his own right xD
