I feel like this viewpoint needs to be spoken about so much more. It’s not selling out to “sell”. A lot of Pokemon KZbinrs are reminding me of the AMC/Gamestop stock spike a few years ago. Those streamers told everyone to HODL. And so many people listened instead of realizing their gains and then investing those gains into other things. Now many of those people lost a bulk of their investments.
@C0leman5 күн бұрын
And I’m not saying that some tcg products aren’t good long term investments. But it’s a good idea to sell along the way and reinvest.

Yeah people do a lot of meandering with no real rhyme or reason. Have to set goals and point yourself towards those goals. Consciously doing things every day to bring yourself towards them. Weekly monthly yearly and by decade can be durations. Most people live only for that day and can't see past Friday night

I will say your video was definitely on point until the eBay MetaZoo / Pokémon energy sale. If it takes so long to pull, pack, and ship a simple order, it could actively cause an issue with you missing an opportunity of a collection or deal. You have a flawed eBay inventory system, not an issue with time. I have a bigger chance to miss an opportunity walking down the hall to the bathroom to take a leak and wash my hands and walk back than I do packing orders, and that's having nearly 10k items listed.
@KetchumAllCollectibles4 күн бұрын
It's less about pulling individual single orders and more about the time it took to list those, photograph and sort them away etc etc. All the time and energy that goes into listing them and maintaining. Very poor hourly relative to what I earn otherwise
@jordand15544 күн бұрын
For me it's the space as an opportunity cost (and my wife killing me) not the financial resources. I already have maybe 70-80 sealed cases, and some other ancillary products. I'm holding off a lot of the bulkier items. Tend to do more graded because it takes up less space (we all can't be Rudy's) Don't want my basement to turn into a Pokemon warehouse... Or do I?

You and a few other people who post on KZbin about Pokémon (Poketubers) said a few years back that Evolving Skies would reprint and the booster boxes would drop from then prices ($200) said this when they climbed from $90 a box. 2024, and they most certainly are not sub $200 boxes 😢. You said you were extremely confident with how modern Pokémon TCG works. In fact every SWSH set like Chilling Reign and Fusion Strike were trashed on at $85 a box. Now look at them.

💀☠️💀 We justify our cardboard investments by limiting our budget to a reasonable 5-8% of our income and allowing the profitable sales to fund anything beyond that budget. We are CONSTANTLY considering Opportunity Cost. But we are always adjusting too. We basically plan, research, plan again, and commit. Last crucial step is to live with the purchase!

That's the cold hard truth but people call it "gatekeeping" by the "elite". If 50 bucks is a lot to you this ain't it. Disproportionately the kinda people you see selling their "investments" on Facebook for diapers or a muffler or whatever else. Like the repo story guy I talked about.

I think if you start hiring your processes will go alot smoother. Its not all sunshine and rainbows with retirement account as there are harsh penaties that happen if you touch the money early.
@KetchumAllCollectibles5 күн бұрын
Lots of ways out of that too without penalty if you get creative and know the rules. All pending what you've got going on though. Easier when you're not earning much income and can do Roth conversions
@JadaaFresh5 күн бұрын
@KetchumAllCollectibles for people that aren't investing or own a business sure it's a viable strategy to retire but it comes with its down sides. It is very rare exceptions where you won't pay the penalties but possible. For the investor and business owner that extra money put into the IRA can go into there investment/business which should net them more money over time and freedom.
