Yes, it does what it says. It does most things reasonably ok. Not the best but certainly not the worst. Good solid every day transport. Which every single motoring reviewer seams to forget about. Not everyone wants to spend huge amounts of money on cars.
@petercrawford33702 ай бұрын
But isn't that the point of the criticism, it's expensive for what it is. The tech is old, but there are options in the same spend range that give so much more.

60 yr old couple , retired , purchased 2023 Exceed 1.5T new , red. For us, simplicity is the attraction to "Russell," and safety tech is welcomed with Adaptive Cruise, a favourite. Live regionally and fuel economy is low 8ltr per 100klm. Having come from a vy commodore , driving style and power comparison were noticeable. Overtaking is effortless, having only one top speed test we managed 193 klm hr . We are both happy with ride comfort and steering, not sure what road your on. CVT was a concern at first, however after 4 weeks no issue at all for us. Haven't really utilised S-AWC as yet, but looking forward to a dirt road adventure in the red centre, after fitting appropriate tyres! Would recommend to all interested, particularly those in their later years, when a 12 inch display is not desired . Last note, having the Exceed, we do have digital speedo and further info on the heads up display. Big reason for choosing is Japanese reliability and manufacturing techniques with long history of Mitsubishi in Australia. Cheers.

Can you please explain why not having a digital instrument cluster is such a no-no for you? I've watched quite a few of your videos and noticed your disappointment if they were not completely digital. I drove a Haval rental recently and the cluster was confusing. I also had a Kia stonic rental and while the digital cluster was good, i don't find these things life changing or any better than an analogue cluster I'm used to. Is there something special you get out of them I'm not aware of? Genuine question.
@justineherbolingo88572 ай бұрын
It's the trend, i guess. For the money spent, people should get digital. The same as the ones the outlander has which is pretty customisable. But imo, HUDs are more useful than digital clusters 🎉

Out of the Japanese makers… I wouldn’t say Mitsubishi “wins” for reliability, or anything when compared to its fellow Japanese rivals. Except the 10yr warranty… Mitsubishi are winning that! (But not for the Triton)

This would have been a really nice car in 2014. Not 2024. Kinda like the look of it but it's so backwards compared to new cars for the price. If it was $20k less it would be a great run about in phev trim. There is no way this car costs Mitsu $30k extra over the base model.

The eclipse cross has always been an expensive car,even when it had that distracting split rear glass and its unfortunate name. That aside Mitsubishi is really proud of their PHEVs to charge such a premium for them.

We need to end the needless variants & options in cars. We just need safety, efficiency and comfort with the least emissions to get us from A to B. It only serves to push up vehicle prices , parts complexity and insurance repair costs. We need to move to shared platform system, before we loose a stack on companies who now seem like seagulls fighting over a chip. IMO.

Dont the hilux have an analogue speed dial? As well as the Jimny. How does a partial analogue instrument cluster make a vehicle interior look old? Subaru vehicles also has analogue gague with small digital screen in the middle . Some eclipse cross models also has heads up display that shows the speed, you never mentioned that in the review Believe it or not the orange led on the ac panel matches other things in the interior, There is an orange light that comes on to illuminate the door handle in the night There is also an orange light inside the door bin pockets on both driver and passenger side. The orange ac panel is part of a theme in the vehicle , but most wont know because reviews are done in the day Ill also talk about the infotainment screen, it actually has alot of features , it displays alot of information. It is not as simple as it looks, you can even control the timing of the wipers in the back from that screen, it has android auto , which you can use waze or even pull up youtube on the screen.

I agree that Mitsubishi are taking too long to roll out new models, and that the Eclipse-Cross PHEV is poor value for money. That said, the sales results for Mitsubishi are very strong - up by 29.6% to July 2024 (cf 2023), and the Eclipse Cross is up 33.4% for the same period. Similarly Nissan is up by 43.4% to July 2024...

Hey Matt, I currently drive a 2019 Mazda 3 and it’s been a great car. But I’d like an SUV and a dealer offered me a 2021 Peugeot 2008 Allure, everyone I talk to is telling me they’re not reliable. Would I be doing something stupid if I trade in my Mazda for the Peugeot? All I want is an SUV that’s reliable and that’s within my budget

There are Many options Eclipse cross petrol 2wd because it's better on fuel , only get awd if you live in snow areas or if you do light offroading on small trails nothing complex. Or you can get the lowest trim model eclipse cross phev outlander phev - if budget allows , you get 61km electric range, so if your work place is 20 or less , you burn no gas and your fuel tank could probably last more than a month before refilling Mitsubishi is very reliable Mazda cx5 , don't get the turbo version because it drinks gas and gets 22mpg mixed city and highway There is the mazda cx30 which is very good Honda crossovers are good like the one mentioned in this review , however the interior looks really bland, the one mentioned here is basically almost the same as the honda hrv in the us There is the toyota corolla cross Toyota yaris cross hybrid Toyota is very reliable There is the Subaru xv , their awd system is very good. However I don't like boxer engines, because they are more expensive to maintain, but its still good and relatively reliable Things to stay away from Haval gwm - don't listen to reviewers because it's you who will suffer when all of a sudden the dealer stop bringing parts , some gwm models also has terribly made dual clutch transmissions And engine design can't compete with Korean or Japanese BYD - go look at how many BYD vehicles caught on fire, these car reviewers will tell you get this over an eclipse cross. Your life is much safer in an eclipse cross. Imagine that BYD catching fire in your home, it will be destroyed , you can't out the fire unless a special fire brigade comes. Most reviewers are paid off to insist you purchase one of these. Peugeot - unless new Bmw x1 unless new Mini countryman - unless it's new Volkswagen Tiguan - unless it's new Audi q3- unless it's new
