Absolutely fantastic! Great job by the both of you! And I love that you asked her that awesome question about what Nietzsche's revaluation of values would have looked like. According to him in "On the Genealogy of Morals," it would be values that enhance, make way and increase great health and the ascending, higher type and his powers, rather than the the decadent, declining type. This is what Lou Salomé wrote in her 1894 book on him regarding his horror in the face of the eternal return, which he absolutely saw as something very real and terrifying: "Unforgettable for me are those hours in which he first confided to me his secret, whose inevitable fulfillment and validation he anticipated with shudders. Only with a quiet voice and with all signs of deepest horror did he speak about this secret. Life, in fact, produced such suffering in him that the certainty of an eternal return of life had to mean something horrifying to him. The quintessence of the teaching of eternal recurrence, later constructed by Nietzsche as a shining apotheosis to life, formed such a deep contrast to his own painful feelings about life that it gives us intimations of being an uncanny mask."

Dr. Satoor, another SUPERB IN DEPTH video! I own a couple histories of the German philosophical tradition but by the time you’re done you’ll have a one stop playlist that I will recommend to all my philosophically curious friends who are intimidated by those big books and I know they’ll love it cuz u help me explain it to them thru your concise insights. Keep up the incredible work. The spirit of schelling, Fichte, Hegel, Hölderlin, Schiller, Kant etc shines thru this channel.

Interesting conversation. But Nietzsche misunderstood? It is certainly true that interpretations vary but the literature on him, both scholarly and popular, is enormous. Scholarly consensus? On some things yes, on others no. It may be that due to his style of writing there will never be complete agreement and the Nietzsche industry will plod on.
