I remember several years back, my family and I were watching a documentary a lot like this one that was following a group of lions. The wildebeest herds had moved on, leaving only elephants behind, and they were beginning to starve. Dad, who didn't usually watch nature shows, said once or twice something along the lines of "Well, go out and start killing some elephants!" Finally they started doing just that and survived on them. Later in the show, the herds came back and the lions were coming up to hunt them, and Dad belts out in a deep voice "We survived on elephants!" A bit random, but a pleasant memory with my family.

The Bible says in John 3:16-36 that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life, the Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that those who declare with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their God, Lord, and Savior they shall be saved. Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Narrow is the path that leads to the gates of heaven, but only few people find it. The gates that is the path to destruction is where many people find it! Jesus loves you SO MUCH! Nature did not evolve 360 degree vision and defense in most tetrapods as it would demand too much metabolic energy to power the brain and would distract such a creature with too much sensory input, Also providing such rear defense ( limb) organs would complicate the reproductive dynamics of humping lol . Vision is the most demanding metabolically , why do you think animals have to sleep with eyes closed ? I dont recall any extant mammals having defensive spurs in their rear ends like stegosaurs( tails with horn!) or anklyosaurs ( clubs in tails!) did , horses and donkeys and likely a few others do have a good ability to kick back with their hind legs, and the mammalian equivalent of anklyosaurs ( extinct Giant Armadillos) may have had club tails. Luckily us humans just do fine with an occasional glance in the rearview mirror while driving without needing another pair of eyes at the rear end - in that sense we kind of outsmarted evolution to some extent and is intrinsic behavior of humans - the instinct to dominate over limitations imposed by evolution is very much part of us .

@lonebeagle Жыл бұрын
This is just par for the course. Elephants get eaten all the time by lions and hyenas. Just look at the videos and accounts of hyenas eating elephants alive who are trapped in mud pits. Only humans think that this is bad or painful or whatever. This is exactly how nature is supposed to work. Only humans thought, "Gee it's not good being eaten by a lion. We should invent spears and go lion hunting instead!" So that's why I enjoy hunting videos where humans win. That's also how its suppose to work.
@blackops9572 Жыл бұрын
That has nothing to do with the fact that an animal feels incredible pain both physical and mental. Let’s see how you react when you or someone you love is faced with an inevitable and very painful death. I know that they are inteligent but with a bit more brain it would be completely different. That elephant decided to run and it was a mistake. @blackops9572 Жыл бұрын
@@ihatetomrobinson I understand that. I’m just arguing against the fact that that makes it a good thing. We wouldn’t think the same way if our family got killed by an animal. It might have been necessary for that animals survival. But it’s still a terrible thing. I just hate the disregard for the real suffering that goes on, under the guise of “nature is always good” argument. What’s necessary isn’t always good. And nature is fucking brutal and cruel. I'm so glad that the lions earned themselves a large meal that would feed and last them for two or three weeks. Otherwise, had they not hunt the elephant, they would have been doomed to starvation.

I'm curious about the decision making mechanism in a lion pride. Who decides the target? How to make the strategy? How do they communicate with one another during this process?
@firegator68533 жыл бұрын
i believe they just look at the position of others for example if there is a prey and one is planning to keep the prey back from the herd it will move sideways...the other lion will look at the position and think "well since this one is going for that position i will go from the other ready to attack the neck" and maybe tail movements and expressions count too i guess its a game of covering the important positions and others ready to replace them in case the original one gets tired

@SameerPrehistorica5 жыл бұрын
@@ThatisnotHair Yes, there is nothing brave about this because any big cat as a big group could bring down an young elephant but not a fully grown healthy bull adult elephant. Some people will claim that pride of lions can kill a full grown adult elephant but you don't have to believe it until you see such legit news. There is not one video in the internet which shows a pride of lions killing a healthy full grown 6 tonne bull elephant. A full grown bull elephant in it's prime is immortal.
@SameerPrehistorica5 жыл бұрын
@John pohn I have no hate for any animals. When some people overrate their favorite animals, it just destroys the reputation of those animals itself which they don't realize. This sentence is typed by most likely some lion fan - "It typically takes seven lionesses to kill an elephant, but just two males could do the same." It's there in Wikipedia and in some other sites. That is one of the biggest jokes i have read in my life. As usual they don't mention the size of the elephant. After seeing that sentence, the question anyone should ask themselves is what sized elephant seven lionesses could kill ? There are few online footage which shows more than 10 lionesses try to kill a very small elephant. If it was possible for just 2 male lions to bring down an elephant then by now there should have been lot of deaths of fully grown bull elephants but that is not the case.
@SameerPrehistorica5 жыл бұрын
@John pohn Exactly, i have read that before. A single tiger could kill a full grown Asian elephant which is another joke. First of all it's not easy for a single tiger to kill a full grown muscular bovid gaur and yet you can see comments of tigers fans clashing with lions fans claiming that a single tiger could kill a full grown gaur while it takes a group of lionesses to take down a single African buffalo. In some cases, a large herbivore dies of injury made by another one of it's kind or disease and then it's meat is scavenged while some people will claim that it was actually killed by the predators. Indeed you are right about some people creating fake articles. In one video it was mentioned as a large giraffe killed by some. I know that pride of lions can kill a giraffe and i commented saying, that giraffe looks like a sub adult because in fact it didn't looked like a fully grown adult. Some guy reply to my comment and says if i'm an angry tiger fan and i'm not even fan of most predators. He just thinks that just because i said that it looks like a sub adult giraffe, that i'm underestimating lions and also thinks that i should be a tiger fan. Seriously these people are crazy.

@@MaevaStardust ??? If you don't believe me just read more about the topic a lion alone could never kill an elephant ( unless the elephant is still too young) but not an adult elephant. Also, as someone else also shared, the lions had a great advantage because they were hunting during the night, lions (as all cats) have an excellent night vision but elephants don't, so this helped them a lot. And again, we are talking about a pride of 30 lions.

It's not a child but a subadult elephant of maybe 13-14 years. And everything has to have predators to keep population in check. Even though elephants are very beneficial for ecosystem, too much of them would still be bad for vegetation. It's humans that are actually a threat to everything that exists.
