Because on one hand, especially with the son of the emperor asking: “So what’s our plan of action?” Is literally your leader essentially saying: “shits fucked, I need your eyes on the ground on how to solve this problem.” But at the same time, it’s literally your bosses bosses boss deferring to you. I can’t Blame him for being like: “I’m not in charge! You’re the big boss here!” 😂 It’s especially bad when you remember it’s only a few chapters who don’t believe the chains that bind aren’t a literal set of chains that bind them. To the point if the situation was with some of the more rigid chapters. One of them would have just executed that high ranking official for daring to have an opinion or just because he pissed him off by looking at him funny in some chapters lol.

The Lion now seems to have common sense. Vulcan and Corax also had pretty good common sense. The biggest wild card left that seems most likely is Russ, but he is going full Odin mode seeking answers and cures after being humbled from his near death experience. I can't see any loyalists sons not matured by now without common sense. Best way I think they can counter the loyalists Primarchs being competent will be to bring in Perturabo/Iron Warriors or Lorgar/World Bearers as legitimately competent in their crusades. Easy to do with Perturabo since he's already got history of being very competent. Lorgar just needs a great showing, but all Chaos loves him and his legion. Wouldn't be a stretch to bring him back crazy strong.

The party backed me into a storyline corner and I realized that the dm pc wouldn't be able to slide away this time, and when the question ("you are coming with us, right?") finally was asked directly to him I rolled with the flow, dropped my voice a few raspy octaves, and said "*spits on ground* I'll bleed next to ya." In burrs brain: "I'm glad, but those 3 are a damn superhuman, a demigod and a literal god compared to me. WHO AM I TO COMMAND THOSE?!?!"

Though I admire and appreciate all the black library authors, Dan Abnett just gets those nuances.😂😂

Imagine being such a boss and good leader that your able to sit at the same table as a primarch angel and a custodes

I’m a newer Warhammer fan but man these kind of stories just solidify White Scars as my favorites! Khan has a great sense of humor and doesn’t try to stifle it like so many other marines.

Fantastic piece of writing.

Abnett often gives the superhuman forces of the Imperium that little hint that they're still human. A shared joke amongst themselves or with a guardsman they're fighting alongside. It keeps the story grounded for me. As much as I like reading about the superhuman feats of the Astartes & Custodians, sometimes they're just too aloof & uncaring to be considered part of humanity. Which, certainly, can be the point, but them still being able to jest with the mortals that fight by their side helps a lot in making them likeable. Hell, even some of the forces of Chaos that Abnett wrote about in Traitor General on Gereon still had a human element to them.

considering that both the kahn and valador has primarchis aura,the general is more than human too to not be scared in his soul.

The Khan is possibly the most human of all the Primarchs. Even Vulkan is so deep into his superhuman compassion that he doesn't really make sense to us mere mortals, while Jhagatai is just us, but better.

@@andresperedo1275 I always have a hard time seeing the human side of Russ past the intentional football hooligan type image that he and the Space Wolves cultivate in their role as "The Emperor's Executioners". He is usually too busy playing that role to show his human side.

@@grantharriman284 when he is with his legion, he acts more natural. His thoughtss are also written enough times to see how he is. In any case I see him quite human because (maybe surprisingly for some) is not as hubristic as most of his brothers. He does not have the need to justify himself in front of others, but he struggles justifying him to himself. He knows that he fucks it up a lot of times, and he does not try to cover his failures. He also likes to laugh and party, which is very human and rare among the primarchs.
@grantharriman2849 ай бұрын
@@andresperedo1275 That's actually part of why I consider the Khan more human than Russ. Russ is too well centered and too dispassionate about his own failures. That's something us mere mortals can certainly aspire to, but few of us can actually relate to it. Hubris is a very normal trait, and lacking it actually puts him further from humanity. Also, yes. A Space Wolves party is the stuff of legends. Just don't try to drink what they're having because it will literally kill you. Otherwise just be ready to wake up 3 weeks later and on a different planet.

@@grantharriman284 I think he took several sour lessons, and his reaction was depressive. He cared a lot about his mistakes but he did not have an answer on how to improve. Something that was maybe relevant is that, strangely enough, he did not seem to have a close relationship with any of his brothers.

They have their moments. That's all I'll say. And it's always refreshing when it shows.
