Pretty cool! Definitely out of the hobbyist budget at 20K+ and a steady diet of consumables. Sort of a send/cut/send at home. Give it a few years and when they drop to sub 5K and are open source and this tech will be amazing!

I used to run a huge Flow WMC duel head 60k psi years back and I couldn’t imagine there ever being such a small version of this technology until seeing this. Pretty flippin cool. I would be interested the repairs of the pump etc. thanks for the video and have fun!!!

I was excited about this, but after looking into it I think it's left me a little disappointed about the desktop waterjet space in general. The issue is that it's simply too small, maybe it's okay for small prototypes but it's so slow that you'd have to seriously consider if sending out for parts would be more cost-effective. I certainly wouldn't consider it for even small production runs. For most of the possible uses, a decent CNC plasma would likely serve you better and for harder materials like titanium, I'd probably send them out to be done by a third party - The fact that any clean-up is required negates its benefits for fine details, sending out for wire EDM would likely be more suitable. The reason this leaves me disappointed is that I can see from the specs, that this is likely the most powerful waterjet that could be run on this sort of electrical connection. This product demonstrates that, unlike some manufacturing techniques, waterjet does not scale down in a meaningful way and my disappointment comes from the fact that this scale of waterjet is not likely to be sped up in any meaningful way for future machines.

The cut area is 12x18, so a 12” diameter circle should work. But I haven’t tried

About 0.040” on the 1/8” thick aluminum I cut in the video

That’s huge. On the 1/2” aluminum that makes the kerf around 5/16”. That’s way out of spec for fabricating anything!

You can specify for the kerf to be on the center, inner, or outer edge of the part. Fireball Tool has a more comprehensive overview vid on their YT channel.

Learning to program (or whatever you call it) the computer must take ages, I’m guessing.

It’s actually really easy because it’s just 2 axis, so you take a flat vector and put it in their software, tell it what the material is (for feed rate) and that’s it. So if you can draw in any vector program, sketchup, illustrator, autocad etc, you can make parts

Before you drop $10,000 - $20,000 on a water jet I would suggest you attempt to do 3D printing. Amazon has 3D printers that are well under $1000. I have the Prusa MK4 and it’s just north of $1000 assembled or get the kit so you save a few bucks but better you understand how to service it should it break. Add in another $500 - $1000 for software and supplies. I’m still struggling to master it and I have a self imposed rule no CAD / CAM toys until I can master 3D printing. I just turned 66 so we’ll see if this old dog can learn a few new tricks.

@@jamesnichols7507 I’m 70 this year. I have a small engineering shop and a couple of years ago I bought a CNC plasma cutter. No matter how hard I try or how many hours I spend trying to work it out I still can’t drive the damn thing. I know technology is good, but it just defeats me . I’m trying to find a young bloke who understands technology, but so far anybody I’ve contacted seems more interested in showing me how smart they are rather than actually teaching this old fart to use it.🤷Rural Australia doesn’t exactly lend it self to teaching old dogs new tricks. Oh well.

@@davidcat1455 what kind of a table did you buy? It sounds like you might be missing the cam software to run the machine. Does the machine have its own control module or do you run it by connecting a computer to it?
