Hey everyone! In this video, I answer common interview questions for psych nursing and share my personal experiences in the field. Please keep in mind that my answers may vary from others, and there are many different ways to approach these questions.
Throughout the video, I cover various topics such as staying motivated in a stressful career, handling safety concerns with patients, practicing self-care, and the importance of teamwork. I also share insights on how I stay organized and how I gather important details during patient intake.
I discuss difficult situations I've faced as a psych nurse and how I managed to handle them while ensuring all patients received the necessary care. Additionally, I talk about my interest in mental health and what made me want to work in this field.
If you're interested in becoming a psych nurse or are simply curious about the field, then this video is for you. And don't forget, timestamps are provided for easy navigation!

Hello I have a quick question, currently prepping for a psych interview, I have a mental health disorder.. do you think it would be detrimental or helpful to include that in my interview if necessary?

well your business is your business :). I probably would air on the side of caution and NOT mention it, at the same time, if it's something you've really struggled with and you feel like you've gained a lot of insight from it that can help others, then perhaps you can include it. I tend to think it can be a plus, but there's also a lot of stigma still attached to it, even with those making the hiring decision unfortunately. Good luck with your interview!

Behavioral health always sounded so condescending., Pyschiatry sounds better as it says soul healing, but Unknown neurological disorders (you could 10 years in med school and 10 more in practice and 10 more in research to learn we know absolutely nothing about psychiatric patients is far more fitting and accurate.)
