1) Any athlete that gets help during a race is dq'd. any runner who helped her would have been disqualified along with Mu. 2) Mu cut into the pack when there wasn't any space. She did the same thing in the 2021 Olympic trials, except that Nia Akins fell and as a consequence, came in last.

She would not have stopped to help the competition up , that was the finals. Those girls have worked just as hard as anyone else. Any problem your competitors have truly benefit you, think about it. You race with your speed not your emotions.

I disagree, if you fall in a race it’s one thing but the Olympic trials… with a shot to make your lifelong dreams come true??? I can’t say I’d stop in the middle of the race, checking afterwards is another story though

What you say makes some sense... but not in this case, they're fighting for the Olympics...this is not a little race. She fell... and didn't appear to push to get back to the group. She'll get over it and win again.

If you think Mu deserves to have gone to the Olympics, then you should be arguing about creating a different format for qualifying. Falls happen. They suck. Everyone knows that if you fall and can't catch up, you're out. That's nothing new. The other runners had no obligation to wait on her. And everyone knows this would be a non-story if it was a no-name that fell.

Your sympathy for her falls on deaf ears. 12 runners in an Olympic Trials, which occurs only every 4 years, are vying for 3 spots to make the USA TEAM. Clearly it was an accident and not intentional by anyone and very unfortunate that it happened to the former Olympic Champion and probable favorite to repeat although she hasn’t raced much this year. What was more disappointing to me was that she gave up and didn’t give her all out effort to recover the lost yardage and get back into the race as you would expect a true champion to do. If she truly was injured she would have just walked off the track. Clearly she was disappointed but life is not always fair.

I think you make a good point. It is a little sad that there wasn’t more support and love for her on track. On the flip side, this is people’s careers and in the heat of the moment there are lots of emotions. It doesn’t look like ill intent on anyone’s part. In fact it looked like, now that I see in slow motion, that Athing deviated her path to her left trying to get down to the rail and maybe caught Raven Rodgers by surprise. I do wish there was more collegiality between them though. Maybe it shows that track is a little more cut throat than we would want to believe. There is after all, with the Olympics, some pretty big money involved, which is sad if true.

Well said! In my take on what we saw, Athing Mu didn't stay on the track field as all the other runners did; instead, she walked off and headed into the locker room. None of the runners, while caught up in their own emotional beliefs or disappointments probably even noticed that she had left the stadium. And yes, athletics are looking for the multi-million dollar endorsements that come with the GOLD. Having the opportunity to intern on Nike's Beaverton campus, I get why the competition is cut throat every person for themself is there. . .it's an economical life changing shift for the winner.

This is the Olympics. It happens every 4 years. Athletes sacrifice a lot just to get a chance to go to these Olympic games. Athing Mu nor any other athlete would have stopped at a chance to make the Olympic team. You are obviously not an Olympic worthy athlete who has spent the last four years of grueling workouts, the pain and suffering, the time away from family and friends, for just one goal. That of competing and representing you country in the OLYMPIC GAMES!! I do wish the runners that are going well, but the US best chance of a medal will be at home. I would love to eat those words.

But, but, but, scripture says, "The race isn't given to the swift, nor to the strong, but to the one who endures to the end" that's real God talk from TMH-God's heart. When in a prize-seeking race, where the rules of obtaining the win have been set, are clear to each one who competes, and bend no other way. . . .although a nice jester, I doubt it if God would tell the other runners to stop, go back, help her up and lose what you've trained and are here for so she can feel okay about her fall. That doesn't line up with the attributes of TMH nor from what we can exegete from scripture. Lastly, who's to say this might have happened for a reason beyond what Athing Mu understands right now, but will in the days to come? I mean, she may be a prideful young lady who is being taught a lesson on humility and grace herself. . . scripture does say, "Pride does come before a fall." Let's pray she understands who her redeemer is and that this failed opportunity is just the beginning of her Blessings. ❤‍🩹

For me, I would've liked for the athletes to stop and check on her after the race. When she crossed the finish line, I would stopped her and at least ask if she was okay. But they all just let her walk by and said nothing. Yes, it was an emotional time for her at that moment, but that level of concern would've done her so much, and they missed it.

Her semi final run was really good and she could have easily done the same in the final!

@bihsaidwhatnow2392
@bihsaidwhatnow2392 6 күн бұрын
They don't allow runners to run that close when moving in due to clips, trips, falls, and injuries like what Athing Mu caused. With the long stride she has, she moved in too early instead of running on the outside and only advancing to the front once her speed allowed her to do so. This is not the first time she's moved in too early and fell. The fall was on her and her alone.
