Scarcely 1. She never returned the prize money, she obtained by cheating, which would be worth well over a million $ today. 2. The judge wanted to give her at least 2 years prison : this is shown by her suspended sentence. She was involved in a multi-million $ cheque fraud scheme. 3. She never admitted doping : she was forced to admit to dishonesty, meaning cheque fraud, on the steps of the court, which the journalists surrounding her misinterpreted as meaning doping. 4. She was associated with CJ Hunter from age 16 : she needed Johnnie Cochran of OJ Simpson fame, to get her off a lifetime ban for doping as a teenager : she served a 4 year ban. 5. Given her poor performance at cross fit, and her teenage dominance, the suspicion is, she was doping from age 12. (Her high school coach, was known to be a coach of Evelyn Ashford, the 10.7 second world record holder before Flo Jo. Evelyn Ashford sported a moustache. ) 6. And as has been pointed out elsewhere, she cheated multiple others, in a blatant fashion, of their due medals, advertising revenue, Diamond League prizes, and also spread doping. 7. It is also unknown whether she was a drug dealer : athletes have been tested as positive for THG, CLEAR, from BALCO, and the route is unknown. 8. She may yet suffer her due : all the drugs she is known to have taken are likely to have side effects such osteoporosis, heart problems : the most common symptom of a heart attack is death (50%), and other health issues.

To list what happened 1. Jones is not allowed to compete in IAAF events because she has NOT returned the prize money she won by cheating. 2. Jones proved she was NOT a true elite in the 2001 World Championships final : when under pressure due to a competitor getting a tiny jump on her, her form collapsed due to the pressure despite looking like she had been jogging afterwards, yet her competitor held her form the whole way despite collapsing afterwards, showing her competitor was a true elite. 3. Jones received prison time due to NOT taking legal advice. The cheque fraud put her in a dubious position : I remember a reporter showing her a cheque for $ thousands, I forget the exact amount, this appeared on TV over 40 years ago now, probably 25 or 43 thousand, and she appeared very nervous. (She started a think first campaign after this experience. ) 4. Jones period of solitary confinement ensured she wouldn't be a repeat offender. She showed the impulsive behavior typical of a repeat offender, which would have activated her 2 year suspended sentence. Overall she got off very lightly. The judge wanted to give her 2 years, but due to the prosecution offering immediate release to 6 months as his options, he could only give her 2 years suspended. NO ordinary citizen would have received such light treatment.

A legendary cheat? She got stripped of all her medals and her name removed from the stat lines? Do you not understand she cheated her way through? She also caused others who ran on the relay team with her to lose their medals as well. Her name has been scrubbed as if she never ran track and rightly so. Her name will always be remembered as a bonafide cheater and a black eye to the sport. What part are you not getting? Sheesh.

None of them can take away the talent and skill that was installed in her. None of them can rerun her races. She did the ppt by coming clean , guilt and shame cannot hold her down. She Is Victorious. Since MJ never had any talent or skill to begin with, she can't lose them. She proved how unskilled she was by (a) In the Sydney Olympics, she was unable to beat 10.49, when taking the maximum dose of THG her body could withstand : she was constantly smiling due to induced aggression. (b) In the World Championships 100m, when an opposing athlete got the jump on her, she couldn't maintain her form all the way to the line despite appearing fresh afterwards, her opponent did, despite collapsing afterwards, showing her opponent was a true elite.

When I was a young kid running 100 meters, I used to study how Marion Jones ran the 100 meters, especially the last look she took at the track before putting her head down to wait for the starter. I was really disappointed to hear that she had been taking steroids, and I don't think she really needed them to succeed. Maybe she was surrounded by the wrong people at the time. I am glad she has sorted out her life and is enjoying it. I am sure her story is a great lesson for many people.

I think she deserves a third chance even, and should be invited back to all the places where she's made contributions and tell her story. I think the kids will understand, I really do. They know, especially as teens, just how tempting it is to take the bait; even when you are already so gifted and talented. I understand why she lost everything; she cheated. I don't understand how she ended up in jail. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of olympic and other high-stakes professional athletes that have done as much, and often much worse, and have suffered little.
