Right on. You want honesty, my casting sucked to start out! I think if I kept fishing I would have gotten used to the lighter lure and made the necessary adjustments but I figure I'll just wait until I can get down into the meadow area and then it's full attack!

I enjoy fishing the creeks and catching wild browns & brooks. Not that I'm opposed to the holdover stock fish it is just nice to go off alone and have fun catching those fighting wild trout.

Hello Amani, amazing backdrop for this video, fishing was ok, but it was shallow in most areas, need to find some deeper holes (if any) for the bigger fish maybe. I used to cut off two hooks and leave one left on those panther martins and shave that barb down, probably should keep all the hooks and shave the barbs like you, catch you next time.
@wildernesswithamani1027
@wildernesswithamani1027 Жыл бұрын
Right on. I used to cut two hooks off but I was missing too many strikes. Barbless with a good tool to remove the hooks seems to be OK. I want to explore the creek downstream a bit. There has to be some deeper, easier water to fish. I'll wait until it gets colder and I'll probably head down there and give it a shot.

I fly fish quite a bit in the content on my backcountry lakes and creeks fishing playlist. Unorthodox but I catch a fair amount of fish with my 4 piece fly rod that consists of components from two different rods. 3 quarters maxcatch and one quarter something else!

Im going to have a look at more of your videos. Just great commentary! I also hike far to get into my spots quite often. Dont like fishing where the access is too easy. Goodluck out there !@@wildernesswithamani1027

Awesome I like Panther Martin's in use that same rainbow spinner and the black w yellow dots or yellow w red dots. So my Son makes me a bullet spinner w gold paddle that trout love its action. I loved wading in those small rivers and retrieving back up steam but now its harder with a bad hip & knee with a cane so now i scout out other fishing locations for my friends that have some disabilities who still love to fish. As a new subscriber now I have to go back watch your other past videos. Tight Lines

Right on. I have a clip for Ellery Lake on my lakes and reservoirs fishing playlist where I get some nice browns at sundown on a floating Rapala. I want to get back over there. I might make it this year before the snow falls.

Yeah, there is still a fair amount of snow visible on the surrounding peaks and I was cut off from going around Odell Lake by snow the day before. Winter will be here before we know it so I guess it's just year round snow in the higher elevations.

What size Panther Martin for those little guys?
@wildernesswithamani1027
@wildernesswithamani1027 Жыл бұрын
I use the smaller size they sell. I don't know what the exact size of that would be even though I've been using them for decades. Grab the smallest or second smallest size on the rack and you'll be fine for small creek fishing.

That section is just downstream from Saddlebag Lake. The campground at Saddlebag lake is closed this year for some reason but there are campgrounds open closer to HWY 120 and there is good fishing all around there. If your son is old enough to hike I have a lot of content on my backcountry fishing and hiking playlists for the 20 lakes basin area that is up the trail from Saddlebag lake. Tons to do in the area. Tioga Lake and Ellery Lake are both close by and you can camp at them.

I'm a panther martin guy myself but I like Mepps too. The blades spin with a slow retrieve and that's crucial to the way I fish creeks and rivers.

@@wildernesswithamani1027 In those small creeks I like to fish Rooster Tails, because they are lighter and tend not to snag the bottom as easy. Plus they catch fis.

Yeah, there is quite a bit on the surrounding mountains above. There are large sections of snow you still run into once you hike into the 20 lakes basin up the trail from nearby Saddlebag lake.

Why? Dude, I catch plenty of fish fly fishing. Glad you watched some euro nymphing videos and it helped you. Up my game? I like fly fishing and catching trout on ultra light spin tackle about the same. Big trout on light spinning tackle in rivers is tops for me. I think it's called personal preference.
