Got tip for you Brother Quady... in the colder months when butter isn't very spreadable, I use Mayonnaise. Works great for any grilled sandwich in a skillet! The Quadyrado still Rocks!!!

You probably already know this, but for those that don't...with cast iron, you want to avoid cooking acidic food like tomatoes, lemon juice, etc. as it will remove the seasoning from your skillet. You should keep a second stainless steel pan on hand for that. Other than cooking acidic things, cast iron is king!

Holy crap Mike, what a grilled cheese sandwich!!!!! As, for the cast iron, I personally have a set from my late grandmother passed down a few generations and im not even sure what brand it is. I also bought a cheap one from walmart which was rough but overtime it seasoned up and all I did was use it and brush it out with chainmail then reseason after each use. didnt take long to be just as good as the oldtimers. Quady I just wanted to say that I am glad you are doing better. I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. I remember when you started you explain why you went to tubing after you had a bad experience with your work after an injury. I am kind of going through that right now had hernia surgery got hurt at work saw the doctor today. He said you’re all set to get back in two weeks. It’s only been 5 1/2 weeks since my surgery Last time I was out eight weeks and this was a worse hernia two hernia is in five years sucky luck, I wish I had the smarts to start a KZbin channel like you did you have made it you have a well deserved audience, and your videos are always top notch Family friendly put you in a good mood. You’re a go-getter and I appreciate that I am in my head right now about what to do about my job. Do I go back to work feeling like shit because they told me too. Or do I contest it . Workers comp sucks. Patch you up and throw you back to work whether you’re ready or not big businesses suck and as far as I’m concerned, most doctors do to especially the ones that are in the workers comp pocket. I’ve had three people give me three stories. My human relations guy said I would be out for two months with two months light duty doing hardly anything which I don’t know where he got that from when he told me and then the nurse from Worker’s Comp. told me I would be out Two months also but the doctor said I usually don’t keep people out that long for a hernia I wanted to say this is my second hernia and the first one was effed up sorry to ramble time to watch your video. I’m sure it is gonna be as good as the rest. Keep them coming Mike

I am reaching out again because I have lost my job about to loose my truck and home, it’s been a hard past year after my heat strokes I am limited with what work I can do, which has made it very difficult. I need prayers went out this morning to start my truck and battery is dead it’s just one thing after another! Sorry to be such a Debbie downer brother I hope all of you have a blessed and better week then I am. It’s been a tough 3 months and I am on the verge of becoming homeless. i love you all

I use my induction over my regular stove about 90% of the time these days. They're great to have. I use a wagner that was a hand me down. It was made sometime in the mid 1940s. I love restoring f'd up cast iron skillets, it's a fun hobby.

The antique cast iron is the best. I use it everyday. The bottom of the pans are smooth as glass. Season with bacon grease, never use soap in the pans. Good job on your videos!

Cast iron pure user here. If you want a new piece that works well I recommend Lancaster or Field Company. I love mine.

My sourdough starter was started from a great grandmother over a hundred years ago.... You'd be surprised all you can use it in!

Now THAT was a good looking grilled cheese ! I also smoothed out a Lodge, I used 120 grit on the jitterbug sander. It's my favorite cast iron of the various pieces I have. I can glide eggs around it like it's teflon. Love it. Personal opinion: ( this will stir the conversation up ! ) Lodge is as good as any of them if it's smoothed out, properly seasoned AND the temp control is correct for what you are cooking.

For me- a grown up grilled cheese is no plain white bread and no rubbery fake cheese slices. It’s hearty bread and really good mixed cheeses even with bacon added or whatever you want. Yum!
