I am loving the L shaped seating/bed with storage under and behind! I invested in a Iceco fridge and EcoFlow power station for SUV camping and have absolutely no regrets. Currently trying to workout a solar panel on the roof rack alongside my cargo box/attic. Not sure I have enough room up there. I may have to steal your seating/bed design if I buy a mini van. Thanks for sharing your evolving camper build/setup.
@haveminivanwilltravel3 жыл бұрын
Hey Cat! Thanks for watching and for the comments! Appreciate the bit about what you are using for your fridge setup. We are researching all that now and there are so many options out there its making it hard for us to come to a decision. Good luck with what you decide to do with the configuration.
@catpatrick38383 жыл бұрын
If you aren't going full time van life Alpicool seems to be pretty popular. Iceco has the best compressor (and warranty) and a wide range of sizes. I gout a VL60 single zone because I stay out extended periods and eat fresh so I needed a pretty big one. I am also eyeing full time in the future so had an eye toward that as well. The EcoFlow power station (River Max) was more of a cost thing. Jackery was way too expensive and EcoFlow had great reviews. I got the power station, and one briefcase solar panel, for about half what a comparable Jackery costs. Lots of research is definitely necessary so you can choose the best options for your needs. Good luck with the evolution of your van. So far it's looking great, can't wait to see what you do in the future.

Can you give more detail about the water filtration system please?
@haveminivanwilltravel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cindy. We use the "10 cup Zero water filter" zerowater.com/ The filter has a 5-stage filtration system. It comes with a TDS meter (Total Dissolved Solid) so you can measure water contaminants before and after. It's kind of fun to see the number before it's filtered and then 0 after it's filtered. We like to measure the potable water at each campground. This works for us because we prefer not to carry a big water jug. Hope this helps.

Love your videos; good idea to use 2x3's; how high is your bed from the floor, and how much space you have between the back of your front seat and the end of the bed?
@haveminivanwilltravel3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the videos and we are glad you like them. The Odyssey floor is sloped so its lower near the front seats and higher towards the back of the vehicle. The measurement from the floor to the top of the frame near the front is about 9.75 inches. At the back where it connects to the rear storage section its about 7.5. The mattress we use is 4 inches thick. I am 5'9" and have plenty of head space when sitting. In fact, we are thinking about raising the frame a few inches for more storage. The distance from the front drivers seat to the bed frame is about 18 inches. That of course will depend on how far back or forward you have your seat set. Hope this helps.

Hi George. I wish I could post a picture as a reply but sadly its not a feature of KZbin. The floor is sloped in the Odyssey so its lower near the front driver /passenger seat and slopes up as it goes back toward the rear of the vehicle. Near the front of the vehicle, from the floor to the top of the slat bed it measures about 9.75". Then as you move back at the high point it measures 7.5" from the floor to the top of the slat bed. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching! Safe Travels!!

Hi, I totally agree with the L-shaped configuration. I have a question I was thinking about doing the same thing but instead of a slat bed, using to piano hinges for the long piece to fold out over to the bed side instead of a slats. Did you think about this and what was your conclusion? Also wondering where you got the foam to make your cushions and would love to see a video on that
@haveminivanwilltravel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill. We did think about designing similar to the way you mention. Here are a couple of links that show designs we were considering before settling on the slat bed. www.etsy.com/uk/listing/607272310/diy-folding-couch-plans This design would require having to remove the mattress in order to convert to bed mode. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmjHfmeXm72cp5o&feature=share We were looking at this design and were going to tweak it a little to make it work for the long sofa section. We got the mattress here: bestchoiceproducts.com/products/4in-folding-portable-mattress-topper-w-high-density-foam My wife separated the mattress into three sections by unstitching and sewing back. She did take a few pictures but never shot video. We hope this helps. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻

Hey, I'm looking for one of these to buy and convert to a camper van and have a question. Can you get the spare tire out of the back ok with the bed like that? And could the bed be a few inches higher or would that make it impossible to get the spare out? Thanks.
@haveminivanwilltravel Жыл бұрын
Hi, we had to be sure to leave enough clearance from the side of the bed frame to the removable plastic tire cover. At first we did not so we ended up having to pull the bed back out and make it a little narrower. You probably could go a little higher but then head space might become an issue.
