Hi doc, in your other video explaining buccal vs lingual position of structures in the OPG based on radiopacity of structures, you state to treat the OPG as a larger periapical radiograph, and so the lingually/palatally positioned structures will appear more radiopaque as it is closer to the film. In this video, why does the palatal root appear more radioluscent than the buccals, if it is closer to the film? Thank you

Dear S B, Thank you very much for the excellent remarks. The reason why the palatal root appears to be less radiopaque than the buccal one is that because of its image, is superimposed on the maxillary sinus, which allows more X-ray to pass and reduces the radiopacity of the palatal root. Clear? Best regards

@@saadwahbyalbayatti9561 Just to break it down to the basics: more Xrays are getting absorbed in the sinus rather than absorbed in the palatal root, and so the palatal root appears more radioluscent?

Actually no. X-ray are "passed" by the sinus which casts a dark image on the palatal root hense the root appears darker. Had there is no sinus present in this area, the palatal root will appear more radiopaque than other roots.
