‘Your Street,’ directed by Güzin Kar, is about the story behind Saime-Genç-Ring Street in Germany, a road named after the youngest victim of an arson attack where Neo-Nazis killed a Turkish family of five- including Saime.

"The seven-minute film asks what kind of place society should allot to the most painful or shameful parts of its past. Helmut Kohl, the late Chancellor of Germany who presided over the country’s reunification, has a street named after him in the center of Bonn. “It’s a beautiful street,” [Güzin] Kar said. “It says a lot about what a society thinks of a person.” Meanwhile, Saime Genç’s street feels more like a compromise between being forced to remember and wishing to forget. It is remote, desolate-a memorial that brings up no memory." - Fabrice Robinet.

It's not where it happened (Untere Wernerstraße, Solingen) it's a random industrial area near Bonn.

Your Street is a good poem as the life of Saime Genç should be remembered.

The sad news is that there are still many, many _Little Hitlers_ ( and _Big Hitlers_ ) throughout the world today; But the good news is that on any given day, any one of them can make a choice to become something less hateful. - j q t -

It's can't be sad news that humans are mammals that can learn things. As a student of military history I'm hard pressed to name anyone alive who rises to the dramatic importance to military criminality of that one German. It would have to be someone who perhaps invaded and destabilized hmm ... Iraq? Vietnam? Korea?

“Ring” is a German street suffix that means, well, “ring” - a U.S. equivalent might be “circle” or “loop”. Thus to say “Saime-Genç-Ring Street” is like saying “Columbus Circle Street” - which is redundant and sounds silly. The description should simply read “the story behind Saime-Genç-Ring in Germany, a street named after...”

"Sleep well, little Saime" ? That is a cruel epitaph for a child who may have died an excruciating death. Downright insensitive.
