A quiet Thursday night on New York Avenue in St. Cloud, FL... the very corner where film maker Herschell Gordon Lewis was up on a "Cherry Picker" (thats what he called it when he told me about it) shooting the arrival of the guests lured into town by "detour" in Two Thousand Maniacs!!. Shot in 1964 by Herschell and Dave Friedman, it was probably their biggest budget spent on a film. It's one of my very favorites and I love being there and how New York Ave at night is lit and peaceful. Coming back from out of town at night and pulling down New York Avenue and driving down the original cobble street at night toward the hotel it's just beautiful. I shot this little clip after we finally got settled....be sure to check out the hotel and the area if you are ever in Florida, it's not far from the Disney area / Orlando and its very easy to get to. The park where the "Teetering Rock" scene was filmed is right at the corner. So much "history" for us HGL and gore fans right in one place! -Bill B
