Yeah, it’s all about the characters, the story and its world the characters are living in. You instantly get invested with what’s going on throughout the whole movie. And this movie has little to no dialogue whatsoever, but it’s very effective! I highly enjoyed this movie.

Movies was great except for 2 parts: The beginning scene with the young boy (parents should have let their youngest either walk ahead or on the side of them. Made no sense at all to not pay attention to your youngest child). And the scene with the father (was dumb because the father made a sound trying to retrieve a weapon That he didn't even need if he had just ran under the trunk with his kids. Him retrieving the weapon caused a sound resulting in him being attacked which resulted in his other son panicking which made noise resulting in the kids being attacked which resulted in the father giving up his life). Could have all been avoided if the father just ran with his kids

Turns 5! One of the 2018's biggest surprises The movie is impressively made without a single word of dialogue spoken for the first half because like these people the audience is trying not to make a sound or else it means danger It's easy to understand how these characters are feeling based on their facial expressions conveying their emotions The parents do worry though if they can't protect their own children then who are they? The creatures themselves are slickly deigned moving around like giant spiders but have the speed of a cheetah along with super strength and razor sharp teeth I was grateful I got a lot of scary moments that made me jump Krasinski and Blunt are excellent together, this has a quick pace, really good acting, sound design, and it actually made me cry at the end because you've grown attached to these people a lot Simmonds in particular is a welcome change of pace for an actual person with a disability that serves as an unknown advantage later on (a great step forward as far as inclusiveness) Yet that ending was very abrupt, but the creators leave open possibility to expand the world they created Thankfully no large amounts of exposition and the score by Marco Beltrami is only in spurts creating atmosphere This works as a mature drama and a horror movie with creative writing making you feel for characters making it out alive even if the world around them falls apart John Krasinski succeeds presenting a haunting examination of life after the world's collapse
