This was a pretty mediocre PR interview. ARR's interview with Yashraj Mukhate was more comfortable, any interview about Firdaus Orchestra is more heartfelt and animated. There didn't seem to be much of a connection between rick/korbin and ARR and nothing new was discussed. They've done pretty great interviews in the past, Kaushiki for example, even their interview with Anurag Kashyap was more insightful than this (even though it's a bit hard to enjoy an interview with an accused r@ pist lol oops!). We're blessed to be a part of the generation to witness this genius do his stuff. If he were born in the 1950's or 60's, the technology back then wasn't good enough to fully express himself. If he was a part of the millenial generation, we would have done a massive disservice to his craft because of our attention spans. We're lucky Rahman was born in that technological transition that we're fully able to witness the metamorphosis of this genius and how he's been able to constantly update and renew himself time and time again. Above all that, he's a wonderful human being. Anyone who has ever worked with or even interacted with him over the last 3 decades hadn't had a single bad word to say about him. What an absolute pleasure Rahman sir. Keep doing your thing and we Rahmaniacs are always behind you. This is the third time I have seen him so comfortable. The first one was with Arijit Singh. The second was him interviewing different artists from Manipur, Sikkim, Kerala for the Amazon prime Harmony. In those interviews and interactions, he seemed very comfortable and open like never before. He often showed childlike excitement about the musical instruments, singing styles and musical ideas. He seemed so excited about trying Harpeji, keyboard and drum boards with these musical discoveries. He did his best to make the regional artistes at home in his rehearsal place. It is always the musical ideas, musical instruments and musical people that helps him open up. Even in the superawkward Kapil Sharma show, he seemed to open up to Ali Asgar only when (s)he brings a cart full of musical instruments. Also the questions asked here are not the typcial stale ones. These guys seem genuinely curious and present questions about of his work history, style, musical experiences and routine in a way he relates to and actually enjoys! 🙏🏽👍
My God, Rick and Korbin, hats off to you two! Look how far you both have come on this OSR journey! This man is one of the greatest composers and musicians of all time, a true gem of India. What an interview, they got the best of ARR, easily among his best interviews ever. Remember Karan Thapar said years ago how ARR was the most difficult person to interview, ever.

Thank you Rick and Korbin for this wonderful interview. Never seen him dive so deeper into his self and express so much about the soul of music. "You can only express on the basis of how pure your soul is". That says it all about the legend and his life journey.
