Awww you can do it! I learned the beginner material really quickly and then took what felt like forever to truly grasp all the intermediate level Korean~ I want to say that I spent almost 4 years in TOPIK 3 & 4 and am barely moving into the advanced level~ I’m not saying this to discourage you! I’m just saying that I took a while too~ I have friends that sped through intermediate and have been advanced for years now even though we started at the same time 🥲 all our journeys are different

If it’s not too much of an ask, showing us how to navigate getting established in a move to South Korea would be great and very informative! For example, what you need to do to open a bank account when you’re a foreigner. I’m not sure what your plans are for vlogs, but I’d love some teachable moments in how to become a “citizen” there!
@NataliaGarza3 жыл бұрын
Yes~! I hope to sprinkle that type of information into my videos as I go through it myself~ Many things have changed from the last time I moved here, so I feel like I’m having a different experience in regard to setting in as a long-term resident~! I will probably make a more information video about that stuff in a few months once I have more knowledge about it all~ if there is anything specific you’re curious about, please let me know~ I’ll keep it in mind as I film future vlogs and plan that informative video~
@bkdsignature3 жыл бұрын
@@NataliaGarza Ahhh, ok let me fan girl a moment that you commented and say I appreciate you taking the time to reply! You were my first KZbin subscribe when I started my Korean learning journey in July so I’m so excited to see you achieving your goals! I’m not sure if I can identify anything specific at this moment, but I’m just picturing what it would be like to move from the USA (I’m a Californian) to South Korea and essentially starting over - in a foreign country, nonetheless! I mean, I just can’t imagine what all you have to do to build a life all over again. Or perhaps I’m overthinking it and don’t realize that (so there’s a good potential educational point that it’s not as hard as it seems)? I’m just thinking about the every day stuff in our routines that we’ve just become accustomed to, but not sure we’d know how to re-establish for ourselves if we moved to another country. How do drivers licenses work? Can you use your US one or do you need to start all over like you’re 15? Getting a doctor, getting health insurance. Are American products sold there? Are American stores common, like say, Sephora or Apple? It may seem mundane, but I think it’d be extremely informative in prepping Americans for what to expect as I see many of your subscribers interested in moving or studying there. Can you buy your American skincare routine there or do you have to start over? Do they have Amazon with American products? Just spitballing ideas here. Thanks for reading!

Mmmmmm I’ll have to think about it~ Since I just got here, I feel like that would be like telling the world how much money I have in the bank and that stresses me out… like I’d be saying “come rob me” 💀💀💀 In a few months, I’ll have used a bit of that money so I don’t think it’ll feel like that anymore~ Give me a few months to figure out my actual expenses haha But, overall., yes~ this is definitely a video i would want to make in the future~

Watching this video was a HUGE nostalgia trip for me. When you went to look for the bank I was sitting here yelling "go near the Woo Dang (we used to called it Wu Tang) building and then go to the gs25 and its above it" in my head. Nostalgic of the sensation of 찌개 burning my tongue as I'd always be too eager to eat it. The maze of a campus that some how seems to always be going uphill when going back to the dorms (the stairs give me PTSD). One of those buildings in the beginning of its construction while I was attending and they were pretty much finished with it within the short time it was there, crazy to see it without the fences up in this video. Anyways, some of my favorite places in the neighborhood were 밥버가 because it was quick and cheap, there's this huge underground study area at KU that has a ton of quiet spaces to read and study (some students studied so hard that they would sleep there, packed toothbrushes and a change of clothes). There are a ton of cafes in the neighborhood that are really good study spaces. Also Azit Anam was always the go to bar, was always a chill group of students there to drink with. Sorry unpacking memories here, watching you explore just took me back to a very special place in mind. I hope you enjoy your time at KU and study hard!

Congratulations. That university looks huge!! I am cheerfully jealous. Its always exciting seeing people who are going after their goals and dreams, i just love listening to stories and experiences and what goes through a persons head as they struggle and achieve. It makes it real and not a mystery. When i was a kid it was always so mysterious how do you get into college, whats available to study, etc etc, No one ever had conversations with me and the internet was not available to everyone at that time so there was no way for me to research stuff on my own. I ended up never going to college which is so sad. I keep thinking i should look up some part time / night courses for adult professionals who are looking to upgrade or learn new skills from the local collages. My area actually has several options. I know there used to be German language courses available at the one place as some friends went years ago. It would be interesting to see what languages are available and have some college experience for myself as a middle aged person. Anyways enjoy your time there, i hope your room mate is nice, and please keep posting. Thank you. 🙂

I really really want to study Korean in South Korea but my parents said no because it’s not safe for me to go alone and be alone there. I don’t have any friends that would want to go to Korea. Like my parents made me go to college only in my city. I also have a job so yes i’m saving up money. Does anyone got any tips on how I can persuade them?
@eundongpark16723 жыл бұрын
save up money and just go. You're an adult. And Korea is safer than the US or UK (I know cos I've lived 1 year in the UK, 11.5 years in the US and 6 months in Korea)
@carlyf1383 жыл бұрын
100% agree, just go. Your parents have most likely lived 2x (or more) your lifetime, it’s better to explore and do what makes you happy before the responsibilities of true adulthood tie you down. Plus you have a job already so it’s not unrealistic!
@bkdsignature3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how you’d be alone there when you’d be living on campus? Plus, you’re an adult now, it’s not like you can’t figure out how to take care of yourself. I went to undergrad in another state at a tiny private college where I knew literally no one. It was tough at first not knowing anyone, but never did I think of it as a safety risk.
