NY and other large cities have always had a tiny percentage of very rich people, a smaller percentage of aspirants (some with talent and good values) and a huge mass of poor people who have no means of escape. The mega-rich built the institutions and ways of such cities yet are not interested in cities now. The rest of the people are sleepwalking. When the aspirant working 'middle class' sees no point in tolerating the downsides of such cities and adjust to leaving for calmer places where their $s stretch further the big cities die except for important historical parts. New York was a 20th century city and like other such ones is all but dead a mere 20 years into this century.

Interesting you've addressed this. I stayed away from going 'all in' on GME and I have been lucky to have decent employment during the pandemic (near your favorite town in Delaware: Bear). I figured there must have been many people have lost a lot due to this, but there's little talk of that in favor of sunk cost fallacy laden hold/'to the moon' phrases(low confidence), everything is focusing on the relatively few shrewd retail traders that were able to profit last week and the other financial service firms that were able to make profit off it it. One of the reasons I've stayed away is because I've had similar experiences with crypto years ago and went through a similar self-reflection process.

Thank you Louis, this was what I needed this morning! I think that over time we end up becoming our own biggest critics because we are the only ones who truly know every mistake we make. When we make big mistakes or have a series of "failures" with no "wins" in-between it's easy to spiral into a vicious cycle of loathing, self-doubt, and imposter syndrome. The need to take the time to reflect and understand our motivations that lead to these poor outcomes and then forgive oneself is advice I'll certainly take to heart. I hate the aphorism "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" because if you actually tried to act upon good intentions and failed it is much better than intending to do good but never even trying.

24:20 "Where do you get the confidence so you don't have to YOLO?" I have been working on that answer for myself as well. The answer seems to be confidence comes from having options. By expanding our options, we get greater confidence. Because we don't need that ONE thing anymore. Options aren't built over night but the foundation starts when we decide to give ourselves a light at the end of the tunnel. For example, if you stopped doing macbook repair, you wont starve. You gave yourself the option of being honest and open on the internet. You will SURVIVE in either case and have a band of fans behind you.

For everyone that did it, I thought about buying it too and I know how It felt the fear that it may be your only chance to get ahead quickly. The one thing I learned is that life isn't a sprint it's a marathon. The second thing I learned is just cause you are right doesn't mean you will make money and just because you are wrong doesn't mean you won't make money. The most important part is to be consistent and not always beating yourself up that you could have bought at 50$ USD and tripled your money on GME when you were debating on buying it because who knows you could have lost money at that price too. Sometimes the world isn't 1+1 = 2 sometimes it's 0 or even 4. Thank you, Louis Rossmann you have helped me a lot cause even after getting my engineering ticket I'm still scared of fu cking up my life. I Remember 4 years ago I would think when I have my engineering ticket I would be set. Now with my engineering ticket and 20k in the bank, I'm still staying once I have (fill in the blank ) I won't have to worry but to be honest, this is what I always wanted and if I can make it this far why can't I make it farther, and there is no need to worry anymore.
