If you only get the AC DLC from the Expansion Pack & that subscription ends/is cancelled then you lose access to _certain parts_ of the DLC. You'll still keep certain abilities if you've unlocked them though. But if you renew it or have bought the DLC separately then you're fine.
@Kenhawk983 жыл бұрын
@@King_Luigi Does it still make it worth it though? If you have kept on playing Animal Crossing since its release in March 2020, chances are you're still gonna play it from Nov. 5 to a year or more, at which point you'll have to pay another $50 for the NSO + Expansion Pack, I'd say if you really want the DLC, buy it for $25 and keep it from now on, instead of renting it. That's my opinion though, but if anyone thinks the Expansion Pack route is still better for them, then go ahead and have fun. For anyone else who's on the fence for N64 games that won't come out at launch (such as Paper Mario or Banjo-Kazooie), I would suggest to refrain from paying it until they are released and don't give them your money early, wait 'til they are available so that you have the maximum amount of time possible and maybe, just maybe, if Nintendo sees that few people have signed up at launch, they might consider lowering the price or doing something else to appease the fans. I honestly feel worse for Japan when it comes to this. Since modding consoles can give you a huge fine or even jailtime, added with the fact that emulation in general seems to be looked down upon, people in Japan really only have this as their option unless they want to lose a limb trying to play ONE of these games. It’s basically extortion, and should be by no means acceptable. I’m just hoping enough people are going to speak with their wallets so at the very least *something* gets across to Nintendo.

I think it has less to do with stuck in the past (they are, sometimes) and more to do with how nintendo refuses to let the free market dictate the value of what they are trying to sell. A good example of this is horizon zero dawn on the ps4 vs breath of the wild on switch, both games released same year, both were extremely well receieved, both were in the running for game of the year, and both have received a substantial dlc pack. You can find the complete edition of horizon at wal mart for 20 bucks...comes with the dlc. Breath of the wild however still sells for anyware between 50 to 60 bucks on average...without the dlc. Nintendo simply refuses to let the market dictate the value of their product. They force whatever value they deem its worth. And it frustrates people because nintendo games are almost always of the highest quality. Heck they own most popular video game character of all time in mario, and they own a 1/3 stake in the most powerful media franchise in the world, pokemon. This is the unfortunate reality of anyone who likes nintendo first party games.

I always found weird that the Switch didn't had a Digital store for old games such as GBA and SNEs like the WiiU, but it makes sense now, they wanna make you pay for giving you breadcrumbs and not even allowing you to choose what you'll get at the end of the day. Nintendo is like Apple but for videogames, they want to control everything and make sure it's impossible for you to play anything, not emulated and not from the official means because they will make sure to force you to throw away your money for a service you will probably only use for a month or two if they release the kind of game you want to play. I agree with your rant, just because you love a company doesn't mean you should defend every single act they do against you as a consumer. If I may throw my hat into the ring here: I think what makes all of this worse is the fact that they don't even tell us how much the Expansion Pack would be for just 1 month . Sure, we could figure it out with some math, but shouldn't Nintendo still have the courtesy to tell us?
@enriquepinero7073 жыл бұрын
100% agree. I think the real reason why Nintendo is taking this route with these retro games; is that the Switch eco system is most likely going to be foward compatible. As such, any game we buy now; we would completely own and never have to buy again. Up until this point; they (like Capcom and Sega) have resold us the same retro games at least twice per every single console generation. Now they would no longer be able to do that; if things become foward compatible. Companies just want to keep making money off their past work on a regular basis and they don't want us to own their retro games on a mainstream modern platform. If we keep turning a blind eye to cloud gaming; we will get to the point where we can't own even digital games either; as they will keep charging us annually.

As someone who really feels neglected by Nintendo, I mean I really have no reason to congratulate them for N64 on Switch. Not only do they suck with making things accessible (especially for their larger fanbase right now), but they can't even emulate their old games right. And they're selling at those prices? It's a scam. Just calling it like it is. Emulation and ROMs are much more feasible and way less insane. And they're portable too if you run them on laptops or iOS devices. And often times, they have things to help improve the experience--something Nintendo still hasn't figured out. Just embarrassing. It's no wonder PC, Xbox, and Sony players used to and to some level still mock Nintendo fans. Nintendo deserves what they get. Even worse is how people still think you're a criminal for preserving your sanity and health by choosing to emulate old and often inaccessible games, rather than pay an arm and a leg for a decrepit game (and depending on how it's available) which may run totally awful (N64 games on Wii U). That stuff with Emulation in Japan also needs to be repealed so that the people there can enjoy the older games without fear of persecution. it's just not right. Nintendo is weaksauce.

But yeah. $10 a game? 1. Pokemon snap 2. Mario Party 1 3. Mario Party 3 4. Mario Tennis 5. Pokemon Puzzle League 6. Pokemon Stadium 7. Pokemon Stadium 2 8. Kirby 64 9. Yoshis story 10. Donkey Kong 64. Easy $100. Right there.

What makes this all worse is that people like me who see through the scam will refuse on a moral level and not buy into things that they otherwise would have... I recently purchased Pokemon Sword. I thought that Pokemon Home was free because why the heck wouldn't it be? but then I saw that it was another $15 to get basic trading to work between your own games. At that point I stopped planning on getting any other Pokemon games, because I'm not paying $15 for the privilege of something I should be able to do for free. They lost $180 minimum because they want to charge $15 for something shouldn't be charging for. And Online. I wouldn't get it if it weren't for the fact that they gate another free thing behind their terrible online service and I actually need it for what I'm doing. I care less about their trash library of games that have been modified, not usually in a good way, don't adapt to the controller you have even though the system knows what you have, and almost all games are low tier or low tier version of good games that I'd rather play modern versions of, especially since they've been modified which wrecks the nostalgia feel. The games that I care about on all the emulators are not there or I want to play the whole series, not just the last in the series (Phantasy Star 4), Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Quest 64, Golden Eye, Perfect Dark... They're not there and they're unlikely to be there ever cuz with how much bad blood they are causing with the fans and the agreements with other companies, there is about 0 chance of those games coming.

I think your point is fair, but having this service is something good in theory, if you manage to split with 8 people the price becomes fair, and my only hope is that in the future the whole N64 catalog would be worth it. That said, I'm not personally interested on the N64 games they're offering right now, since I either played them on my N64 or Wii Virtual Console, but I'm happy some people will have the chance to enjoy some great classics they missed. The only thing that makes me really angry is that the Wii U has a VC service that's WAY more sensical and complete than the Switch; I never had a Wii U and I sometimes think I should get one just for retrogaming alone, but that's a big thing to ask. I'm ok for paying, I'm ok if Nintendo values their IPs so much to fight emulation and put an high price for it, but AT LEAST give everyone the chance to enjoy all these games without having to buy an old generation console. At this point they might as well do a totally new retro-console with the only purpose to play VC games, I would buy that.

I am looking forward to repurchasing a GameCube, Wii, and WiiU at some point to play some of the games that I missed out on in the 2000s and 2010s. Original hardware all the way, with cartridges either original or repro carts in certain cases with fan translation games that never originally came out in North America. Once I buy the game, I have the game and can play it when I want without it being connected online or having to go through some random menus and an online portal and lose access if I don't pay a subscription fee. I have downloaded all of the console portals on my Switch, but I have been hesitant to invest the $40 or $50 to the online expansion pack for these reasons listed in the video and more.

With the new Switch OLED model, n64 games on NSO,SMT V and the new Pokemon games (BD/SP) coming, I thought this was the right time to pull the trigger and pick up a Switch, however: -The Switch OLED is pretty much this, a Switch with an OLED screen, without any other improvements - and I'm not talking about 4K docked mode, just fixing stuff like the Joycon drift. Also, considering the fact that Nintendo hasn't bothered with fixing the Joycon drift, I doubt that they have even bothered with long term problems like the OLED burn in. -N64 games being locked behind an overpriced subscription model and not even offering to buy them separately (BTW you can do that in the WiiU/3DS). -New Pokemon games' reviews are already out, and stuff like forced XP-share nullify any sort of difficulty in single player (like SW/SH). All that's left is SMT V, which I believe will eventually be released in the PC too. At this point, I might as well stick with my 3DS as it still offers more than the Switch (in terms of N64 games, that's the objective truth BTW, stuff like the Zelda remasters or the SF64 Remaster will be probably never be ported to the Switch).

Like allowing the membership to stay constant with all the benefits or just hoping for smash to finally be a free game that's not chained to their overbearing and corrupt owners but no, sadly this wasn't the case, I still enjoy their games yeah but I have their main systems, think the wii, wii u, and switch, as a multi-player platform that I play with time to time if people are over and other times it just collects dust, sure the screen is cracked but eh whaddamigonnado. I just pray the day that either Nintendo goes bankrupt and we get to hand make the future of these systems, or they finally have a change in heart after some odd years and allow stuff like Project M and plus to be out there and melee have a healthier prize pool with them getting it, but I don't think any of those bright futures are coming and I'm just denying the fact they're never gonna change.

Nintendo should of made their online services free like they did in the past instead of do what every other game company is doing.

I bought it and I have to say…. I immediately regretted it. I really wanted to play ocarina of time and super mario world (and majoras mask when it’s released) but unless you buy the $50 n64 controller for the switch (which has been SCALPED btw, now at prices of $125 and up) the controller mapping and sensitivity is terrible with the switch pro controller and joy cons, so I personally don’t get much enjoyment out of it. After about 2 days trying to play I decided to end it… which sucks considering I already shelled out the money.

To be fair, it would be WAY cheaper to buy games like Chibi Robo and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance if they got $60 Switch re-releases.

Most people don't care to pirate/steal content if you feel like you get your moneys worth from the actual product
@Rasengan9000ttt3 жыл бұрын
Path of Radiance deserves it rerelease. It’s one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve ever had the best Fire Emblem Story rivaled only by Three Houses. It should also be completely uncensored from its original English translation because some might think the game is making a joke about racism with its hilarious Laguz / Human in world slurs and how over the top some characters are with their bigotry. But if you actually dissect it’s themes it’s probably one of the most mature story’s about such topics and the games direct sequel expands on that.

My Question Is: If Nintendo Is So Focused On Buttmunching The Fact That They’re Still Thinking Their Not In Wrong About NSO. Then What About Everything Else? If This All Started During The Switch Era (I Believe..) Then Was The Change In Management A Cause In This Whole Fiasco? (Reggie To Bowser)

The reason why DK64 got released on the Wii U is because not a lot of people had the Wii U and that makes DK64 not get a lot of attention. Nintendo doesn’t want that game to get a lot of attention.

Think my breaking point was when the switch launched, I've never gotten a console day one and still won't, microsoft already taught us that mistake lol. But after a couple years of hearing how the controllers were already breaking but still cost as much as a brand new game, and nintendo was willingly ignoring the problem despite the lawsuit? They can be lazy and still make massive profit so why would they put effort into their brand, that was when I realized they would never return to their industry defining standard.

I am still annoyed at Nintendo for keeping it secret by not telling it in the Nintendo Switch Online video that you don’t keep animal crossing New Horizon’s day I’ll see if your subscription expires they had to allow KZbinrs and people like me to inform others about the DLC issue

You could waste your money on Nintendo's mediocre service or you could purchase a Xbox Series S/X and emulate most Nintendo systems with Retro Arch. And that's not mentioning Gamepass. I love my switch but I'm going to pass on this one.

Sadly Xbox Live Gold Now charges around 100-120 a year. Greedy staff at Microsoft removed the yearly package. Meanwhile you can still get PSN yearly for less than 60 on sale sometimes. Sony is seeming better every day
@Soup-man3 жыл бұрын
No, they back tracked on it. It's still 60. Though, you shouldn't be charged to use your own internet and access portions of games that you already paid for

Thankfully I picked up a ton of games on the Wii and Wiiu VC. Plus I have a Genesis mini and a Dreamcast and 3DS. I don't have a Switch nor want one. There's a couple of cool looking games, But they seem to be ports or minor upgrades for the most part. It's just not worth it. If anything I'll get a TG 16 mini next. Unique games that I own, not rent. Sounds good to me.

The rational explaination for this might be that Nintendo has to accommodate for licencing fees going forward with N64, in particular because of Rare. This means we can expect a lot of classics. Furthermore, there will be Gamecube games as well, all with online multiplayer. I am a lifelong nintendo fan, so I know what I just said is bs, because Nintendo does not act rationally about what fans want.

50 dollars isn't so much the issue...You see, before the content releases where sporadic. No set date, just when ever Nintendo felt like it. I accepted it, because it was a cheap service. Whatever... Now, that the price is upped to 50, like any other streaming or subscription service, I expect consistent updates or releases. Nintendo's current philosophy will NOT cut it, I'm afraid... Do you think that business practice would fly with Netflix or Hulu, for example. "Thanks for subscribing, we'll update content when ever we feel like it". Hell no. People are paying for a service, that would be ridiculous on so many levels.
@dullbox66423 жыл бұрын
They should just sell the n64, genesis, nes, and snes apps separately for 10 dollars each and keep them forever

im waiting for that moment where nintendo does something wrong so bad that they have to become just like sega a third party company because nintendo isn't gonna listen to anyone when they are a big company they would need to get fans feed back or no one will care about buying there stuff i think personally that this is the only fix for that (idk why i took it seriously that it felt like i was in a sword fight lol)
@MoogleMecha3 жыл бұрын
So, your question is "Why do Sony and Microsoft, enormous industry spanning supercorps with far far more leverage for negotiation with business partners, not to mention money have more capacity to offer cheaper things they can underwrite with those other businesses than Nintendo, a company that they out earn by something like 15x or more"? Because like, this doesn't really feel like a mystery.

You know I wouldn't mind paying five bucks a game if they release the old legacy games cuz it's not that hard to convert them over but to pay monthly for older titles that someone else has worked on that's either been fired or retired is just asinine

I bought old games on the Wii, again on the Wii U, and was completely willing to do it again on the Switch. I HATE subscription services. The first sting was when they made you start paying for online the day MonHun Generations Ultimate released outside Japan. Remember that? We could play Mario Kart online for free prior to this. Arms, splatoon, and more on top of that. Gamepass is a fantastic deal, but NSO is pure garbage. Growing up I was a massive nintendrone but now they constantly talk shit to my wallet. I have not had NSO subs since back in 2020, and I will not ever have it again.
