I rented Warioworld once or twice as a kid and enjoyed it. Like Majora's Mask, Mario Sunshine, Starfox Adventures, and Metroid 2, it's sort of the black sheep of the franchise. Most Wario games are 2D sidescrollers, fairly beloved ones too, but this one put the character in a 3D space and made all sorts of whacky and random monsters and characters for him to interact with. I do kinda regret not buying the game outright, but it isn't the greatest thing in the world. Mario games and most B-grade 3D platformers of the time outclass it, mostly in terms of length and gameplay styles. Iirc, Warioworld is JUST jumping and punching stuff. Consider licensed kid games like Jimmy Neutron: Jet Fusion or SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom, where the worlds are more nonlinear and there are various minigames throughout to keep things interesting. Again, Warioworld is worth a try, but it's just a little too short and simple, like you said.

I agree about the simplicity of the gameplay - it doesn't have the most staying power since you don't ever evolve your moveset. Definitely not as strong as the platformers either. I'd love to see them do a sequel with a lot more.
