Now that the public stress test is out, I spent some quality time playing one of my favorite dinos in The Isle. The Omniraptor. Gateway is a dangerously challenging environment for one so small and vulnerable. Is it up to the challenge?

Yesterday I was on gateway as Hypsilophodon and tried to get to the migration zones and I encountered two problems, one was the mountains which were impossible to scale and the second was when I got close to a migration zone it would disappear and reappear behind me and it did this at least 5 times

finally learned every nook and cranny in spiro and learned to never get lost and find my way even without a compass and they release Gateway :D Fuk me..... now I have to learn a much bigger map...... hope this gon be easy to remember like V3 since less GREEN FUKEN FORESTS everywhere....

@@dinometta I just love to walk around and get to know the map so much that when I see a map like vulnona I can literally pick any spot and see the scenery in my memory like google maps Street view :D V3, Spiro and thenyaw I know the Whole map and 100% confident whatever hole I end up in I know it and I know how to navigate to whatever place I want to go.

I really think the Stam changes (with tweaks) is very beneficial to the game, slowing encounters down to avoid the pvp death match that is in Spiro and make it more about survival, I think it's a good experiment

I agree. It's really nice to walk passed a herd and not have them decide I need to die for existing. If I'm not actively attacking or a bit too close, they've left me alone

The tweak I would make is just making trot regen slower than it was before lol solves the issue while allowing us to traverse the map

I really like the galli x omni matchup. An adult galli can ruin a raptor but if the Omni plays it smart and is able to single out a lone or injured galli and get a good pounce in the advantage shifts. It kind of reminds me of the matchup between deer and small canids like coyotes or small cats like lynx and I think the cervid vibes of a surprisingly deadly yet flighty herbivore fits galli well.

Yeah galli v raptor is a really interesting fight! I enjoyed it a bit more when I could alt attack while running though. Gave me more ways to get a bite in without pouncing

The Isle is set in modern times. The map is modern, not prehistoric. Also... Science fiction setting, so don't expect accurate sizes.

Tbh playing gateway has been nothing but frustration for me. It’s so hard to find food on a such a big map and when I did find food I would get swarmed by the ai pterosaurs. Not to mention that the performance was extremely bad with I sometimes getting 20 fps at certain areas that didn’t even have any corpses in them. Coupled with the lack of players I’ve seen on the map in total even with 100 people online. As well as the fact I was dying to only starvation and fall damage, my gateway experience has not been fun at all :( But good video nonetheless

It certainly takes some getting used to. I've been playing throughout the stress test, so i'm a bit more familiar with the map at this point. As a result I'm pretty good at finding AI and getting around. The FPS is always a struggle though. If you haven't already, make sure to delete your config file. That sometimes helps improve performance in a new update.

So glad someone else is having the issues with Omni I am. That new pounce bug has gotten me killed several times time to ceras and I’m afraid Omni is even more unplayable than spiro.

It's connected to alt biting. If you pounce when they alt bite, you get bugged.

Played omni on horde test whole Saturday. My takeaways are: Love the map, its interesting, has a bunch of chokepoints great change. Stamina - absolutely hate it as an omni, can't be bothered to z-walk and sit around , its not fun - I'm just gonna play other games instead. Really sad cos i got about 1k hours as an omni.

Yeah, luckily for me I've always been a trot to travel Omni player, so other than my fighting style using too much stam on my own, the changes don't affect my overall play style. I spend very little time just sitting unless I'm dumb and break my legs twice in a row

They really are! There's some free admin servers on live branch unofficials. If you apply for admin over there, they're really great for practicing your combat skills with little risk!

Hey Metta! Your videos are very entertaining, i love them and the fights without pounce(because pounce is sadly thrash rn). But, i think you should bait attacks in your fights more often, and attack when the player is stuck in the animation, you know. Nice video, im excited for more!

I feel like utah now is as it should be. Not to mention broken hitboxes carnos provide. I mean for real, they shhould cut the tail hitbox by at least 1/3 of its actuall lenght as some attacks really should not do shit. But tbh? What i think of gateway is that it feels like legacy, making families, your own family legacies that will live on and on. But in more advanced mechanics and better graphics.Only if utahs pounce wasnt bugged, it would be a really good predator.

Me too. I was so shocked when you went down, but thought initially that you'd pounced from the front and they'd changed the hit boxes. And then when it happened to me later I realized what was going on and died inside

imo raptor is still unplayable due to the stam changes. Yeah you might not get obliterated while on pounce but you can basically pounce once or twice and youre done for the fight. (Also baby raptors stam is ridiculous, you can try to buckle them off and legit lose all your stam and theyre still on)

That's why I don't pounce honestly. I usually play solo or duo raptor, pounce is not worth it. In a full pack though, if they're properly coordinated and dealing damage with bites between pounces so those who are low can stand back and regain, they do just fine. A pack of three nearly ended my carno yesterday by doing exactly that. Pouncing, then backing off and letting me bleed/waste stam trying to catch the ones that stayed closer while they regained stam

I prefer to spawn at South plains for carnivore and make my way up to Highlands. Herbivores I spawn at j sector highlands, or I sector if I prefer being around delta river. But this is coming from someone who doesn't use the sanctuaries.

They'll release later. They're not ready yet and the devs don't want to hold back content for big releases anymore. Things will be released as they're ready now

I played Gateway for a bit...I like the map but I hate migration zones...I just don´t think it´s a good idea to have most herbis in those areas. Carnis will need to go there to find food and then it will be crowded....even more so than center on spiro right now. I don´t see it working if I am honest. There will just be chaos everywhere you look and probably 20 if not more bodies just lying around... In real life no matter the time period food can be scattered across vast areas and not be condensed to one spot at a time. Maybe migration zones can well...migrate and it´s easier to get the diets there but doesn´t force herbis to stay but gives them the choice of: Do I take the risk of any carnivore there is waiting for me or should I try to get it the old way? Well anyway. I found you a few weeks back and I must say I love your videos. You are doing great!

Yeah, I believe changes will be made based on how the heat maps currently look. Highlands especially has been a blood bath since the test went live so adjustments need to be made. I foresee smaller, more sporadic groups of plant life outside of zones. And hopefully a change to how carnivores see the zones so they're not given a free meal ticket. Anyway, thank you! I can only agree. I believe they would do it similarly to Spiro right now but scattered about more. As for the migration zone indicator for carnis..I would prefer for it to be completely removed and just maybe randomly find a trail to indicate that there might be a migration one nearby @@dinometta
