There are few things as epic as having a galaxy named after you. Congrats! Also, it makes me thing how all of our knowledge is so small in comparison to what can be discover. It's crazy to think that there are mathematical theories that still haven't been proven to be "true" and as we keep using what we know to be true to develop more technology to do further research, we just end up finding more things that don't seem to make sense. If she can discover a rare galaxy, I don't care if she is regularly wrestling with pandas or wearing a turban. It's a similar kind of irrelevancy on her work. She might do it to prove the mightiness of her God, but the rest of us can simply interpret her findings as a curious step forward to re-realize how little we know about this universe!

If she believes that mohammad flew to heaven on a winged donkey and the sun sets into a pool of water every night, I don't have much interest at all in what she "discovers". Its quite clear her critical thinking skills are severely lacking
@Birbakhele
@Birbakhele 5 жыл бұрын
Well, firstly, that's the cool thing about living a democracy instead of fascism! As long as she doesn't start dictating people around her on how should a person behave, she is free to live the way she prefers. Be respectful of differences please. Given the equal opportunities in education and financial capacity, everyone is free to choose their way. I don't care if her motivation is to praise the God by exploring his creation or just to satisfy an unstoppable scientific curiosity. Secondly, I hope you'll learn not to judge a book by its cover. Myself, and probably yourself, being an atheist would stereotype this woman to lack critical thinking skills. Yet, she can conduct astrophysics research somehow whereas you having those asserted critical skills stand with, most likely, no contribution to scientific literature. If her fellow colleagues found her input to be valuable in some sense, luckily they were open minded enough not to dismiss this objective contribution by judging her. She appears to be a hidden gem and we have no idea what she has been through in her childhood that pushed her into religious beliefs. Finally, please at least read the damn Quran before commenting on the silliness of it. You should be able to get into a theological discussion to dismiss it but your idea of Islam is clearly based on secondhand knowledge. I know how devastating the ignorance of religious people can be. However, what I found more repelling is the so called educated simpletons like you foolishly representing what should have supposed to be an enlightened population. When you talk like this, it doesn't help us reaching these people. They shut you down in a microsecond when you attack the single-handedly most important thing in their lives. Hope this answer supplements you in anyway.

This is about Galaxies guys, nothing else. My theory is that there's a giant super-massive black hole in the centre of the galaxy causing the empty centre. The gravity waves from this hole have corralled the starts into a ring. A Smaller black hole in the galaxy, is orbiting the centre and has cleared a gap in the ring, resulting in two rings. The older redder stars are towards the centre and the newer brighter stars are in the outer ring. Just my theory and I'm happy to have it shot down....'coz I'm sure someone will be all belligerent about it and get worked up in some way or another. Congratulations to Burçin and her team for finding it. 👍

Amazing how much we can see of the universe and yet how little we really understand. Just yesterday we got the announcement of a standard model breaking new particle. Science is truly humbling and I admire people like Burçin who are trying to figure it out - if that is even possible. This is not the kind of field you fall into from smarts alone. This takes passion.

Except that they want the entire world to only believe in islam at the point of a sword. islam is the worst totalitarian ideology in history with the highest body count as well. Anything that comes from a muslim & islam is automatically suspect especially when that cult has many levels of deceptive tactics that are encouraged.

Special Relativity Theory is against this idea. Even if humanity will be able to accelerate close to speed of light, so that 359 M light years will be covered in 359 days of the spacecraft time, the spacecraft team will not have the origin to return back. The Earth time will tick more than 359 M years. There will not be anyone to know about the spacecraft. Probably there will not be any life on the Earth due to Sun temperature and size grow.
